This chap & I had 'duelled' for a good while on my 2nd track day ever I'm not fast, but we had good fun all day long I had to let him past at the end, for his own mental security Amazing how bad you can look on cam, best day in years -- Nige, BMW K1200S Range Rover Vogue Aprilia RSV Mille
Looks like you were having fun. If you want to go faster, I can offer some tips, but trackdays are (for most people) just about enjoying yourself. What was the conversation with the woman at the end?
That's a fucking odd way of changing down unless you (he) wants to make the back tyre lose traction and his bike is either shite at reaching max revs or he's not pinning the throttle. -- Beav VN 750 Zed 1000 OMF# 19
OK, a few things show up from the video: - you're not braking hard enough, quickly enough. It sounds from the engine overrun noise that you're just shutting the throttle, sitting up, *then* braking. One of the key bits of the mental map you have off the track in your head are braking markers, and at these you go from full throttle to full brakes as quickly as possible - there's a couple of places where you coast a bit (most obviously approaching the Melbourne Loop). As I believe Ari Vatenan (sp?) once said - if you're not on the brakes, you should be on the throttle. - you're not apexing most of the corners, so you're not taking the shortest line round the track. - you should probably blip the throttle on downchanges.
Read Twist Of The Wrist + TOTW2. Work through each chapter until you understand it, then go spend some money on at least level one at the CSS, preferably 1+2. Go do the Mick Boddice track training day at Darley Moor. If nothing else, blag TOTW 1+2 and read them. HTH
I can highly recommend them for trackday riding too. As for being arsed to put it in to practice, thats up to the individual. A lot can be practiced on the road on the long way in to and home from work. It does. No arguments there. It is a good setup, but it does cost. I've done levels 1+2, which is enough for me.
heh - the bikes fucking brilliant, looks like shit, but goes like lightning. A couple of the smug cunts with brand new tricked up litre bikes could tell you that. -- Nige, BMW K1200S Range Rover Vogue Aprilia RSV Mille
The problem for this was the BTCC had covered all the corners with mud & shit. One of our lot lobbed his bike on one corner due to slippy shit right on the apex. Ta -- Nige, BMW K1200S Range Rover Vogue Aprilia RSV Mille
Well, thats my story & I'm sticking to it One thing i noticed, at Cadwell they had braking pointers at the side of the track, but there was nothing here. Mid July, Cadwell for me : -- Nige, BMW K1200S Range Rover Vogue Aprilia RSV Mille
