It's all down to what you think your head is worth, really.

    Go for it.

You're one of the most obnoxious fuckwits ever to post to UKRM, you
    know.

In addition to that, you're also showing a complete lack of knowledge
about lids, too. The safety standards are the same if you buy a 50 quid
lid or a 500 quid lid, build quality and finish, however, are the
    variables.

You're forgetting Judge has a very fat shiny head so probably has to get
helmets specially made. He's not used to the prices that normal people
    can pay.

So what you're saying is that the helmet is for your wife?

The cheap ones will just meat the standards.

The good ones (generally more expensive) will exceed the standards.

Even at slow speeds, you can still get hit by something coming fast the
    other way.

    Heh.

As it happens she's the one who spent most on a lid - she has a very,
very nice Roof Diversion - the build quality is up there with Shoei and
    Arai, IMHO.

My Caberg, whilst a decent lid, has shite build quality.

  10. Forgive me if this is old news here ... I just looked in for the first time
today. Motorcyclist magazine did an article recently on this very topic,
and it was both well researched and comprehensive. I've been riding for 35+
years, and thought I knew a lot about helmets, but I learned a lot from it.

I took out a fat juicy moth tonight, it was going slow. Trouble is I
was coming in the opposite direction and I wasn't. Our combined speeds
were well in excess of quite a lot really. Died instantly it did and
left a gert bloody smear all up me glove. Good it was, I actually heard
it rather than felt it go splat on the knuckle armour.

Are they quiet? How are they for misting? I keep looking, sadly, at my
    Wing and thinking of replacement.

Got me tempted I must admit. My Nitro N600 is the most comfy lid I've
ever had, and also the longest I've ever used one too.

Very quiet I have stopped wearing earplugs in my N600 & now N1000 you
just don't need them. When the lad was ready for the road 9 months ago
we bought him a N800 & I've just treat myself to a N1000. Same great
quality but weighs a lot less. Before I bought the N10000 I tried on a
Shoei & an Aria but couldn't see why i should pay another £100-150 for a
name never been a 'brand' man. Before somebody shouts they are not as
safe, why then do professionals use them, apart from the fact they
    probable get sponsored
