how many of you leave ur helmet hooked on the bike by the chinstrap? i have
a $500 helmet so i think i will be carrying it everywhere.

ps saw a guy lane splitting today while the cars were starting to move at
lights, as he pulled into the left lane in front of a slow car he only just
missed a car that was pulling into the left lane (from a side street )in
front of the slow car- i wont be ever doing lane splitting in moving
    traffic!

    a fraction
When you're on your bike if you put the helmet on your head it'll save
you the trouble of holding it.
    when is his funeral ?

  4. - i wont be ever doing lane splitting in moving traffic!Just give it time, then you won't think twice about it. :)

Just don't make the same mistake the guy you saw did. A slow car does
not (always) mean the drivers a dickhead. They may well be exhibiting
the behaviour for a really good reason.

For example, once I pulled up at a green light, to let the fire
appliance (with bells and lights) proceed through the intersection.

The people in the lane next to me, noticed me stopping at the green
light, and beeped and yelled abuse at me, and then nearly hit the fire
appliance (with it's lights and sirens going). I got a wave from the
fire fighters, they got the finger.
