Hmmmm? Those guys who dont wear a Helmet, I guess they think "If they go
down to the pavement", everythang' gonna' be Cool.
I wonder why they can't see, that the old noggin, can't take the
    "knocks" like our
Limbs.....a bad asphalt scrape on back of the head, requires mucho more
healing time than scraping the elbows.....huh? bogee

Well, we all have our beliefs and our priorities.

I've said time and time again that I wear a helmet and do not
understand why anyone would chose not to. However, there are many
that disagree and choose not to wear one. I ride with several folks
that don't wear helmets. It's their choice to make.

Fortunately, there are people actively involved in the political
system (like TMRAII) that work to make sure that we have that choice
to make as opposed to be forced to do it.

A few weeks back I was riding with some guys and we ended up in
downtown Ft. Worth on a rather pleasant evening. One guy hooked up
with us on the way in and we all sat down for some beverages outside
    at Razoos.

While we were sitting there a few guys rode by on sport bikes and this
new guy shook his head and said something to the effect of them being
stupid. I asked what he meant and he said "well they are riding
    crotch rockets without helmets on."

Incredulously I asked him "you ride without a helmet, though, right?"
and his response was "yeah, but it's OK because I ride a cruiser."

I couldn't believe it. The guy really thought that because he rode a
cruiser he was safe and didn't have to wear a helmet (as opposed to a
guy on a sport bike). Amazing.

And that's the best part of all of this. If you want to wear one, wear
one. If you don't want to wear one, don't. Everyone should know and
understand the risks of what we do, regardless of where a person stands
    on the helmet/no helmet thing.

What I see when I see a guy saying something like that...is someone with no
faith. No faith in God, no faith in his fellow man, and more sadly no faith
in himself and his own capabilities.

I will tell you why I don't wear a helmet. I choose to let God rule when He
    takes me, helmet or not.
I view a helmet as something that's trying to cheat God, somehow. I'm not
preaching...I don't give a rats ass whether you have faith or not. That's
    between you and Him.

I don't give a damn about whether it's cool looking or not (it isn't...most
helmets are dorky looking, you must agree).

And since, I have determined that you have little faith, I don't feel you
should have a say in whether I wear a goddamn helmet or not. Now STFU.

Can I get an "Amen!", my Brothers?

Point of clarification: By "Brothers" I mean to include my female Brothers
    as well.

Oh, I'm an idiot, am I? What's the matter, Soto? Did you turn that
well-honed sense of perception (almost Sherlockian, I've heard) on yourself
and see something you wish wasn't there? Did I touch a nerve there? Sorry,
    man. Please fucking forgive me.

Everyone should know and understand the risks
Well said. It's senseless to stereotype someone on the helmet issue.

You wouldn't know about God working in someone's life even if it hit you in

  14. tha's kewl. uh, what's the leathers/boots/gloves for ? <g>

i view not wearing a helmet as increasing the chances for a Darwin Award.

nevertheless, knock yerse'f out, and do what makes ya happy.
if you aint having fun riding, what's the point anyway.
what you wear is no skin off my back, literally, and vice versa.

I guess to deflect rocks and stuff. That shit can hurt! heh
I wear a helmet sometimes. If no award, maybe "Honorable Mention".

Exactly. Besides, a wise person wouldn't be riding a MC altogether.

I have no aversion to Christians. But a Christian without faith is like a
    flashlight without batteries. Useless!

Confess! You slobbering, frightened little faithless coward!
You wear helmets only because you know in your heart that you just might end
up like those you scornfully mock and ridicule. That's how fate works. It's
    waiting on you.

That will show you to make fun of those that had an MC injury.

Mark my words.....the time and place has been chosen for you, helmet or no.
It would be better for you to just sell your bike.

  20. oh, i dunno about that. many wise people take calculated risks for all
sorts of things. motorcycles are just one example of a calculated risk
assumed by the rider(s). war is a calculated risk and our nations'
leaders are wise (coff coff, choke).<g>.

being the passenger on a bike is a risk i'd rather not take if possible.
that's really putting your trust in someone else. i've spent too much
time in the front saddle not to have the grips in my hands whenever
    riding.

how many times have you seen the couple, usually on the small sporty
bike, the guy is up front, and the girl on the back is wearing his full
cover helmet, shorts, tank top and sandals. what's wrong with this
    picture? <vbg>
