    I recently picked up an '82 CB900 custom with 36k on it. I've got
    several issues I'm trying to work out. First, what are the plugs
    supposed to be gapped at?
    Second the bike is cold-hearted to the core. If I do not start it
    every other day, I nearly can not start the bugger. The only yhing
    I've noticed is that plug one is usually pretty fouled, the others are
    fine.

    Any suggestions?

  2. "Fouled" with what? Wet fuel, black carbon, grey deposits?

    The nature of the fouling should lead to candidate causes.

    All will be revealed. I'm serious. Hundreds of experienced/informed owners
    of this very bike. On-line manuals, discounts on parts, folks with spare
    parts, etc. And friendly/helpful, unlike some groups out there. No such
    thing as a stupid question, even if its about blinker fluid or muffler
    bearings.

    In the short run, yes, they are cold hearted bastards. They want to be run
    every day (mine is). They are extremely sensitive to low battery voltage;
    they want to be well-charged, or they use all their energy to turn the
    engine, with not much left for spark.
