How do they compare quality wise (fit/finish/durability/waterproofiness)
with the likes of Givi etc?

I spotted the "not cheap" bit.

I'm in a real Darsyesque quandry with the bikes at the mo, especially
thinking about camping trips in the summer.

Horse still isn't tall enough to sit comfortably on the R80 with the
luggage in place, but the Zed is a bit light in the luggage department
    having only a topbox.

Unfortunately, my recently acquired insurance excludes towing, so
dumping the panniers and taking the trailer isn't an option.

The H&B luggage for the Zed looks pretty good and is fitted in such a
way that he'd not have problems comfort-wise.

The other option, is to change the bike but there's so much
procrastination going on in that department it's not even funny.

I'm sure that he'd be much more comfortable on my Harley, which (oddly
enough) happens to be for sale, like.
IIRC in Germany they're considered a step up from Givi et al, both
    quality and price wise.

Interestingly, when we had the conversation about which bike he'd like
to go on when we go away camping in July, his response was "the Harley",
which went to it's new owner last weekend.

    And no.
    Fairy nuff.

Ah well, you probably didn't want grandchildren anyway, and at least
he'll share T's love of show tunes.

I guess some just aren't up to the challenge. Nothing like having a bit
of fun with something on the side.

TBF, it was my first time on an outfit with a *fixed* chair...

Yes, I admit it, I had one of those "sidewinder" jobbies in the early
    80s...

I have one of those in my lockup. One day I'm going to find a 250LC to
    nail it to.
