Is there a law against wearing a full face balaclava In the UK?
For example going shopping with a few mates all with balaclavas on.

  7. Crime and Disorder Act 1998, section 25, "confers on any constable in
    uniform power-
    (a) to require any person to remove any item which the constable
reasonably believes that person is wearing wholly or mainly for the
    purpose of concealing his identity;
    (b) to seize any item which the constable reasonably believes any
person intends to wear wholly or mainly for that purpose."

Suck it and see. May not apply in Scotland, of course, but I'm sure
there's an equivalent. See local press for details.

That'll be the Jack Straw Disambiguation (Moooslems) Act 2006, then.

And watch the third world riots in the west midlands, if a police officer
makes a woman remove her burkha.

Occupiers of premises (including tube stations) would be quite entitled
to exclude admittance in such a case as long as exclusion was not on
    religion, gender, race grounds etc.

Hmmmm...so who wants to join my hitherto unknown sect 'The Holy Monks Of
Balaclava' then? I shall be the founder and leader, the Lord High
Cardigan, and you plebs can fight over the other positions.

How many do I need to get it recognised?

People may have good reason to be concealing their identity other than
to commit a crime; they could be badly scarred, or famous, or it could
be cold, or they could be ugly, or have ear-ache etc
Would the item be seized after the list of reasons above had been found
    to be unacceptable?

    Mr X Guest

That's as maybe, but what you quote is not a "law against wearing a full
    face balaclava In the UK"

Rather a subtle difference, I suggest.

I suppose now would be as good a time as any to mention that members of
the First Church of UKRM are not required to wear a full face crash
helmet with iridium visor and dark glasses when paying for petrol
although it is preferred. Naturally it is absolutely forbidden to take
either off in the presence of maidens and other livestock of a nervous
disposition but that is not so much a matter of belief but of public
    safety.
