    ministers considering putting more points on driving licences
    depending on how far over the speed limit you are. I'd consider
    calling for a wave of civil disobedience, but that'd just get everyone
    shipped of to Guantanamo in the current climate.

    it's complete with, as usual, a standard safespeed pipe-up.

    BTW (http://www.safespeed.org.uk/) is it just me, or would the
    safespeed logo look better with an iron eagle or skull-and-crossbones
    on it somewhere?

    I don't see why this is suddenly "news".

    The courts can already increase the number of points above 3 for
    "aggravating factors" of which the amount over the limit is one, others may
    include HGV, kids around (or in) the car, etc.

    Some authorities already choose not to use fixed penalties for excessive
    speed and issue a summons instead.
