The goddamn front wheels were leaving the ground over undulations on the
highway that are barely noticable in my ute. Is that normal for a Coaster?

All of us LYs refer to it as The Shire, and yes, I have drawn the parallel.
I'm sure there's no Hobbitses living around here, though some of the 'born
here' residents seem to have unusually large hairy feet.

I think I _implied_ that sydney is harder both to get around and to
navagate in when I said "it's got an almost non existent freeway system"
    :)

And yes Hiro... there are freeways... they just aren't a system, there's
a bit here and a bit there.

And no Nev, I don't have much trouble getting around Sydney, but it's
taken me a while to get to that point.

As for lane splitting it isn't legal up there anyway!

No... not that bad. Not unless you are doing well over 100kph. We
recommend a 90kph travelling speed on anything except freeway surfaces
    though.

What happened to your accreditation procedures? Or doesn't QLD require
that for 'shire' buses and only 'commercial' buses?

  8. I don't think Melbourne is any better to find your way around if you're from
outside and unfamiliar with the place. All I've ever done is Melbourne is
get lost. So its a place I go only if there's no other choice (like to get
to the ferry to Tas). I can understand that Sydney is a bitch to navigate
for outsiders, just can't see that Melbourne is any better.

And what bay? It's a harbour.

It can do more than 90?
I'm in WA. Another Hobbit usually drives it but he wanted to drink instead.

The freeways in melbourne are more to a system than sydney. Even the
names are more logical! Westgate is to the west and Southgate is to the
south. Once you know the tunnel goes to the east and the calder freeway
to the north... all mostly on compass points I might add the rest is
pretty easy and most of this lot are increasingly joined by ring roads.

Sydney has freeway sections for high load areas, rather than an
integrated system... the cross roads are almost never freeway class.

Adelaide and Perth are also more grid type organised than sydney.

Which brings us back to the accident where I ran into the back of
Jeffles bike... "I trusted the bike... the bike let me down!" *sigh*

Ours would do somewhere over 140kph if you could find a smooth road I
    expect.
Oops... WA... dunno anything about procedures over there... I've never
been to industry forums there... and they don't come here much... bit
    far I expect :)

  14. When travelling East to West or East to West, i take the easy way, I use the
ferry across the heads of the bay and avoid Melbourne completely, much
    betterer.

Logical to someone from there perhaps.

Adelaide I like, can't get lost.

You know, this would be so much more helpful if it was correct :).

North is the Hume. North-West is the Calder. West is the, uh, Western.
South-West is the Geelong. South-East is the Princes. Maroondah goes
    East, then turns North-East.

South is the Spirit of Tasmania :)

There is a Southgate freeway? .. the Calder goes north? I though that was the
Hume... for the first 100km at least.

  18. They've got no names, just fucking numbers on my map! Worse than Sydney
    freeways!
There's no signs but. At least there's signposts to the boat in Tassie.
