On the TW200 I thinking of buying, I understand it comes with a stock
    50 rear sprocket.

What will be the performance results of changing the rear sprocket to
    a 47 or a 42?

By performance results I mean mpg, shift points, higher speed and
quieter engine operation, and any other aspects of ON-ROAD RIDING.

Okay, here's the simple format for the simple-minded.

Bill, if you change the rear sprocket from a 50 to a 47, the following
    performance features will be altered.

    1.

    2.

    3.

No, Geyser the Troll, you only proved you shouldn't quit your day job
if you hope to make it as a wordsmith.

And BTW, say hello to your anal companion TOG TURD for me next time
you two get together in his "secret playroom."

  3. Easily answered if you can provide the shift points and speed for
a given rpm of the 50 tooth sprocket.

As for the mpg - very likely, no change will result. The reason
why is that at any given speed it takes a certain amount of power
to overcome the wind resistance to move you down the road.
There is a given amount of energy in each gallon of gas. Changing
the gearing isn't going to add energy.

The only time the gearing will help mpg is if you spend most of your
time at a specific rpm, and that rpm is out of the most efficient
point at which the engine makes mechanical energy, and your gearing
moves that rpm back into the most efficient point at which the
    engine makes mechanical energy.

Think about it - if your going 50mph and you shift from 4th
to 5th gear, and your RPM drops by 1K, all that happens is
that the amount of fuel-air mixture that is sucked into each
cylinder on the intake stroke increases - because the amount
of power strokes per mile has decreased, so in order to keep
going at the same speed, each power stroke has to make more power.

don't even. Oh never mind you are obviously too stupid to learn
    anything.
