HG Cruise II or Master V suit?

    So, is the Master V suit worth £280 more than the Cruise II suit?

    I doubt it very much. The cruise is very very good. I got trouser a bit too
    big, so i can keep my work gear on underneath.

    Never leaked, very warm.

    I'm not even vaguely convinced by a), as the only significant difference
    between the two is that the Master V has a new bonded Goretex layer
    which makes the lining thinner and less baggy so it's rather more
    pleasant to wear. Protection is pretty much the same from both.

    I have the older Cruise GTX and it's very, very good. The question is
    whether a bit of extra comfort is worth 280 quid. I'd opt for the
    cheaper of the two.

    a) I'd have thought the level of protection imparted by a either of
    those suits about the same.

    b) I can afford the Master V, I'd just like to figure out if it's
    worth it.

    Master V is very good, weather wise; very, very good (as tested)
    crash-wise.

    Bit light on external pockets, bit too warm in the summer. No venting.
    Warm in the winter - T-shirt under the jacket for all day riding in
    January.

    Trousers are "odd", with no fastening at the waist, but bib and brace
    useful as an addition.

    Comfortable enough to be worn all day (14 hours +). Leg length very
    good.

    I suppose it's going to come down to trying them on. I'll get my arse
    into Brum HG and see which is the more comfortable.

    I wouldn't call that pretty much the same.

    I find the fabric so breathable, however, that I can feel the air
    coming through the fabric.
    The waist is, however, adjustable.
    I have to say they look good and feel good. My primary concern,
    however, is protection, so I'm pleased by your assessment - even if I
    wish it hadn't been available, IYSWIM.

    Well, I decided that it was worth the difference in the shop. It was
    physically lighter, the jacket was a better fit, and I like the way
    the Goretex is laminated to the Cordura rather than a separate inner
    membrane. Means it shouldn't get soaked through and require drying
    out between uses.

    Just need to do something abut the Velcro adjusters on the trousers
    (ie add more Velcro) and it'll be perfect. I actually want it to rain
    next week now.

    Getting hold of a Bandit 1250GT is less easy mind. Virtually nobody
    in the country has one, so I've had to order one through Drayton Croft
    for delivery in the middle of September. Good deal as always from the
    man there.

    So the next question is, engine bars or crash mushrooms? I'm inclined
    towards removing the fairings and putting bars on. And also R&G
    mushrooms are £170 quid for the Bandit 1250!

    Na, the bike is going to get 60k put on it in 3 years. Known
    provenance is important.

    Plus they're on 0% so I'll make a little cash on the money over 3
    years.

    Because they were too tight around the thighs and weren't comfortable
    in a riding position. Joys of being a cyclist, fairly 'slim' waist
    but bigger thighs and calves than designers expect. Makes buying
    suits a pain as well.

    I'll use the bib thingy in the winter, but it's not cold enough to
    warranty that yet.

    This morning was the first test. Showers and a little heavier rain,
    just a t-shirt underneath and the thermal lining taken out. Very
    nice. Need to remember to wear a neck tube though, the collar is a
    little big without the storm collar on and I've got a skinny neck.
