Remember - if you say things with enough authority in your voice, people
    will believe you.

    Sometimes works for me...

Great lady and still a great friend. Faaark I'm a shithous cook (...floor
cleaner, toilet scrubber, balcony sweeper, clothes washer, vacuumer, grocery
shopper,... the list goes ooonnn and onnnn).

    Cheers,
    Dave
    PS. You're a cheeky bastard. :)

    Heeey Betty!

How cool to get a message from you (I accidentally typed "massage" then but
thoughtfully corrected it on the grounds that I may have inseminated
    myself...).

So how's it going??? I'm feeling like a long tour, and having a g'day and a
beer with some of you lot is in order. Re-firing up the love of the road
and 2 wheels is a good idea IMHO.

In Dec my best mate and his missus were killed driving near their place in
Nairobi (Kenya) by some fvcker driving a truck on the wrong side of the
road. *Bang* - in a millisecond their only daughter - my little friend
"Jess" became an orphan and it's shaken the hell out of me for a lot of
reasons. I'm never frightened of the road but perhaps some sense of
mortality has been enhanced as a result. I'm unlikely to be on a 250 soon
    though... :)

Anyway, I'm blown away by everyones' responses and it's great to be back.
Now I just have to regain the habit of hovering around the ng 24/7 so as not
    to miss anything! :)

Cheers BB and hope to catch you one day soon!

God, no. Sold it for 'family' reasons.

As I said to her, "You know, if I'd just killed you, I'd be out by now..."

Best idea there is.... If your 'long tour' just happens to include
Canberra (and if you're crazy enough to do the Oxley at this time of
year you're probably crazy enough to do Canberra as well <snigger>)
let me know and I'll try to organise an aus.moto dinner here - not at
Woodstock, after the - ahem - disastrous effect it had on Clem! (and
    BTH's spare room, I suspect <evil grin>)

Speaking of long tours - anybody here ever been to Lightning Ridge?
I've been thinking it might be an interesting place to ride to (yeah,
in my imagination ALL places are interesting) - anybody got a reality
    check for me?
An understanding of your own mortality isn't a bad thing unless it
stops you getting out of bed in the mornings (remember, most people
die in bed...) Sorry to hear about your friends and Jess, poor little
thing... There really is no rhyme or reason to things, is there, and
you could go mad asking yourself "why?"

Anyway - enjoy getting back on the bike - wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Last I heard, about a week ago, from Gazza (with the Valkerie) was that
Pete was driving about on Fraser Island in the jeep.

Sanity is only another person's perception anyway. I don't know anyone who
    actually thinks they're insane.

I had to print some Donut King vouchers last night and I thought hmm, it's
50% pink (obviously photoshopped), I'm going to run out of magenta, and it's
a new cartridge. I managed to print 260 A4 sheets of 50% pink before the
magenta ran out, so that works out to 0.1 ml per page. Now we all know that
0.1 ml is bugger all, not really measurable or significant, so the question
is, if I used bugger all magenta ink per page, how come I ran out?

Is that the argument you expected from Hammo?

Donut King Midland Gate. Helen Bekkers (wife) and Michelle Sutherland
(daughter) proprietors. The vouchers are for a local promo with the cinema
    running The Simpson Movie.

Sorry to hear about the separation, no matter how amicably it may
happen, adjusting to it sucks and it takes some time.

If you're bored and out and about, let me know if you want some company.
I'm in the middle of Port Macquarie, so if you're in the area gimme a hoi..

And yes out to Walcha is damned cold at this time of year. Even out to
Wauchope at 9pm is pretty damned cold, let alone up in the mountains..

  18. Yep, was there in August 2004 on my way to the off centre rally. I
only overnighted there because I was late leaving and NFW I was going
to stay in Walgett. I was actually heading west but since the next
place west of Walgett is Brewarrina....

The second caravan park as you enter town was nice. There's a *huge*
bowling or services club which I wandered blissfully past. There may
be some action in there but I can tell you they roll up the streets
after dark. Could have fired a cannon down the main street. I gather
there are interesting touristy things to do in the daytime, but I left
early and didn't turn my heated handgrips off until I got to
    Bourke :)

Pretty decent report by a fella here:
    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=243882 It's worth
reading, especially when they get to Walgett.

  19. Did that trip near a decade ago, 'cept it was in a motorhome.

Fantastic scenery all the way up to Lightning Ridge, just don't expect to
have a cold shower when you get there (town water feels like it's at 60
degrees in summer). Don't bother continuing up into Queensland from there
though - clay dirt road with no scenery other than the occasional roadkill
    for several hundred kilometres.

I'd have to rediscover all the details of the places we visited 'n stayed
overnight at, but I do have vague recollections of a really spiffy caravan
park/campground somewhere near Wellington, and a mine somewhere not too far
from there (yep, I think senility's settling in, with just a hint of
    Alzheimer's).

Would be the trip of a lifetime on two wheels.

LOL, actually that doesn't bother me.... I'm not really a "nightlife" kind
of person, coz I always seem to wake up at ungodly hours and can't go back
to sleep anyway - which means I generally get up obscenely early....

    I gather
Geez, Lemmiwinks, you and your bloody heated grips! [1]
Erk, some of it sounded a bit scary.... but it sounds like the locals only
    attack buildings....
    betty
[1] totally jealous, coz I have heated grips as well, and I loved them to
bits when they worked fabulously, but then some bastard fiddled with them
while I was parked (I am 100% sure I turned them off at my usual
intersection, well before I get to my parking area), and I got out from work
and the battery was flat and it's a long story but I got them rewired and
now there's hardly any effing heat coming out of them so in the middle of a
Canberra winter my hands - even the palms - are effing freezing, aaaaargh!
