Eeerm who is the supplier of choice at the moment? I recall recommending an
ebay supplier but that was years ago.
As the ST is getting new paint it may as well have proper lights, and a dip
    that remains on with main.

Les Wassall a regular poster on UKGSer.com supplies & fits HID kits.
Seems to have a decent reputation http://www.hid50.com/ - he's in

I was only pondering this evening that it's that time of year when
ignorant cunts can signal their existence by blinding everyone around
    them once again.
    Shame I can't see it.

HID dip and main on at the same time should really do the job.

Shirly most decent cars and bikes come new with HID these days.

My Passat has em, my RR had em, even the Mrs FIAT500 has em, try driving a
91 MX5 at night after that lot :(

I'm with WUN though, unless the motor is designed for the things, don't fit
them. They just blind folk & the bastard things fail like ****. They have to
be self levelling to be legal, they arent.

The xenon headlights on my 3 series self-level on start up, they're
quite good and don't dazzle like HIDs do.

Ok, I don't believe that any of mine do.

I don't get flashed, I don't see people reaching to adjust their rear
view mirrors. (Which I have had before on a badly adjusted, normal H4
setup). I have three bikes with HIDs. The B6 has dip beam set so low
there's no way it can dazzle. The Trumpet has one on main beam only and
on the Pan I've one HID and one normal H4, again the dip beam is quite low.

The standard lighting on all of the bikes (especially the Trumpet with
its projector style lamps), is appalling, that's why I fitted them.

What I said. My BMW has xenon headlights, when I turn them on they
adjust to a level. I've noticed they adjust to a different height if
the car is parked on a slope when I turn them on.

Ditto. Including having SWMBO following me with no issues, and vice versa.

Umm, Xenon _is_ HID. Unless they're the pikey halogen-wivva-different-gas
    bulbs in old-skool lights.
