Yes really.
If, by "gas", you mean petroleum, you are incorrect.
Actually we did, all petrol car fuel pre about 1985? 86? (somewhere around then) was leaded fuel (either standard or super). It was phased out around 2000 (different states had different dates), see the Aus govt. link below for details. http://www.environment.gov.au/atmosphere/airquality/publications/qa.html G-S
There is nothing to 'work out', gas and petrol are increasingly used interchangeably in Australia. But here... have an extra notch for your pedant badge *sigh*. G-S
**** off, SG1! You must be from Melbourne, eh? Just the kind of statement one would expect from a Mexican Here in Sydney, petrol is "petrol" and LPG is "gas". So shove that in your pipe and smoke it! Or should that be, "pump that into your tank and drive it"?
Even though the original poster (idiot) referenced : "Whats the most important decision a Abo makes in its lifetime? Premium or Unleaded!" Do you have Premium or Unleaded "Gas" in your area? (BTW the poster is not Peter Lucas)
We do not have lead in our gas, our gas is propane mostly maybe a bit of butane etc. we do have different petrols. (which once had lead in them, not now) My post in answer to a fake poster, Which started this amusing diversion)was originally to highlight the difference in language which tends to prove that this poster who purports to be Australian, is in fact an American fake who is annoying every body.
Unfortunately too many Americanisms are becoming mainstream in Oz. Take the "traditional" Christmas Turkey for example. Guess it only takes a few years of marketing to set traditions these days. **** Halloween, bring back Guy Fawkes/Cracker Night...
