Eeerrr, actually the word is NOT big enough because it should have been
"geographically" -ahem- :) OK OK OK, so I am being pedantic here but,
hey, what's the point of a stupid post like mine if I wasn't gonna be a
    pedant, right? :)

Enough of this silliness or things might get out of hand here :)

We dont have a large Jewish population here,..but all the same if half
of our Oz population was murdered by a beligerent Indonesia for
example,..I doubt we'd see a funny side to any joke about it.

Hitler was not unique in every sense,..but his worst efforts became
unique, even beyond Stalin. (the all-purpose murderer)

  4. In short I'd put it to you that whilst I hate Nazi ideology, restriction
of freedom of speech is imo the first step in oppressing the people. any
time the loonies are silenced it only gives them some sort of infamy and
credibility in the eyes of those without particularly advanced cognitive
    development.

and that means even the jokes - the sickest you can think of, are part
    of the equation.
in all seriousness, I have a lot of Jewish friends, (I nearly married a
Jewish girl too for that matter). My father fought against tyranny in
ww2 - at 15 years of age (claiming he was 18, it wasn't like they
checked). He served in the pacific islands, and saw some stuff he very
rarely talked about that would make any reasonable person's hair stand
on end. His younger brother was killed by an attack on his ship by a
german ship flying dutch colours, you may have heard of the Sydney.
Another was in north africa, ended up being a thorn in the side of the
germans, maybe you've heard of a few blokes up there that were pretty
famous. Of those who actually survived and made it back to Australia, 2
later committed suicide, and quite a few came close, drinking themselves
nearly to death. My grandfather on the other side of the family was
blown out of a trench in ww1 never regaining his health, and they fucked
him around for war service pension for some years, finally giving in,
and the first pension went through...... about a week after he died.

So in short my family has been through a lot. And I'm particularly proud
of it. they were also all to a fault possessive of a particularly dry
and unmoderated sense of humour. Maybe that is in fact what got em
through it. My post was intended (and likely worked to some small
extent) in the manner that one might best deal with a streaker in a park
    - if a young girl was flashed, she might be aghast which is likely the
emotive response that empowers the dickhead showing his tackle, but if
alternately they pointed at the 'unit' and laughingly remarked at the
pathetic sub-par dimensions of it, it'd take the wind out of the sails

but the another related way to look at all of this is that frankly the
original post (and this will certainly be the last post I make with the
cross posting intact,as I don't know where you read this originally, but
if you wish to make any replies, I'll be in aus.cars) was particularly
unoriginal, and if you want a joke that'd actually be somewhat more
clever whilst having similar material, there's been one or two in
aus.cars that make a mockery of the racism and even the oversensitivity
    some have to it.

And for the record, if people came out with genuinely prejudiced crap
(i.e. not just juvenile attempts at trolling) in aus.cars you'd see the
responses come out somewhat differently. Therein lies the difference.
Having principles and being ready to defend them, but also having enough
maturity to know the difference between true intollerance and evil and
what is better characterised as stupidity and imbecility is what I'm
    talking about.

    I have no doubt youdo.

    restriction
I think we are on another plane wrt jokes. I have to try and be more
rounded in my attitude to things such as jokes,..but we dont make light
of that which is remembered on ANZAC day (which I know is very pertinent
    to your family).

Indeed,..and that sort of underscores my attitude to all who fell to the
    axis powers.

would make any reasonable person's hair stand
    The desert rats?

Of those who actually survived and made it back to Australia, 2
A reminder on the scars carried from such fighting.

and quite a few came close, drinking themselves
All because they didn't care what age they were,..as long as they looked
the part,..then apon repatriation they tried to shaft them !

Indeed. In fact it goes beyond that with which many had to endure.

    And I'm particularly proud
To reiterate, I think we have to be vigilant that we treat all who
either served, or were murdered, in the same light.

I remember at school (primary) getting called "Jew", and, calling other
kids "Jew" if one appeared tight or not happy to pay your way. This, is
the kernel of antisemitica planted at such a young age. There were many
others who suffered at the hands of the axis powers. One of the most
violent, was the rape of Nanking. The record shows that Japan hasn't
    even acknowledged the atrocities.

    There is the other foot.

I started driving in the late '60s, and because the FE Holden ran around
7:1 CR, it was stupid to use Super. Standard was the go. Now both fuels
left a whitish/grey deposit in the tailpipe, meaning they both had lead
in them :). Whether they used other additives to attain the RON in
Super, I dont know,..maybe they just added more lead in Super.
