I'm in Los Angeles (sea level.) I'm gonna be passing through the
Rockies in Colorado at perhaps 10000' or so. I drive a carbureted 2002
Road King. Is there any altitude issue of which I should be
aware...anything that I might be able to counteract? I've been told
that it should be OK but I'm just checkin' again. Thanx...Steve Z

Just don't expect to blow across the passes at 130. I've never had a problem
with an 883 Sportster, so the Road Thing can do it.

As noted in previous posts, there will be a loss of performance.
Carburetion will be rich due to the thinner air. Most bikes are jetted lean
from the factory to meet air pollution standards so you'll at least get to
experience a range of increased fuel mixture richness without messing with
the carburetor. If you note a marked improvement in carburetion, note the
altitude. That, along with some quick sliderule use, can be of use if you
decide to change jetting in the future to optimize it for your typical
    riding environment.

Being a Harley rider, I'm assuming you shun modern conveniences such as
exhaust gas analizers. Being a Harley rider, I also assume that you'll want
to kill me for making that comment. Just kidding. (You're not planning my
demise as you read this are you? Please factor into your decision the fact
that I ride a Buell. How's that for an unmistakable sign of unresolved
emotional conflict?) One more thing, you'll have less need for the choke
when starting the bike cold at altitude. Have a safe and fun trip.
