I didn't say it 'mattered'. I was just puzzled as most people make
comments like that in order to ingratiate themselves with Bullshit Bear and
his Clique. You're already in the Clique, Level I to boot. It just seemed
    unnecessary, that's all.

  3. Firstly - I don't make comments like that to 'ingratiate' myself with
anybody. I don't (and never have had) the need to do that. I also don't
feel the need to have childish little pet names for people I dislike
either - but thats a different matter.

The fact is (based on what you say on UKRM) you have a reputation - and
UKRM being the place it is people make jokes about it. Just like they
make jokes about me. Or they make jokes about TOG. Or Ginge. Or any
    other poster.

It's a fact of Usenet life. Live with it or unsubscribe - your choice.
Oh grow up you tedious little child. 'Level 1 Clique'? Do you *really*
believe that or is that more of your 'usenet persona' nonsense?

  4. First and cheapest thing to try is a fluid change. Second and even
    cheaper is the breaker.

  6. Fluids were changed last service (about 3 weeks ago) using the proper
    ATF+4 fluid..
It's being recovered to the garage for them to look at (max of 1 hour
    investigation).

    I'd say it was terminal.

  9. Which is fair enough (and as you say later pretty standard for any
    group of people).

However - using the 'level 1 Clique" terminology just makes you look
(not to put too fine a point on it) incredibly stupid. Adding the use
of childish pet names for people you dislike just confirms the
    impression.

And you wonder why people make jokes about you?

You really really don't understand much about people.
Thank you for telling me what I'll do! What makes you think you have
either the right or the knowledge to know or say what I will do?
How the hell do you know you've done nothing to offend? Are you inside
their head? Continual use of childish pet names certainly annoys the
hell out of me! If someone has a name - use it.
This also annoys me - you projecting *your* assumtions onto everyone
else. Other people have different views - and the fact that they
differ from yours doesn't mean that they are lying/wrong/hate you -
just that they are different. Assuming people can't act in an honest
way - *that* also offends me.

So that's your theory shot down for a start.

I'm no slushbox expert but unless the freewheel mechanism on the
'fixed' vanes has died then that sounds more like the gearbox itself.
Not that that would be any better.

  13. I'm thinking along similar lines. I'm not au fait with modern
slushboxes, but they're essentially the same inside as traditional ones,
just extra control bollocks tacked on. The old BW boxes used to exhibit
some alarming symptoms quite similar to that described if the kickdown
and throttle linkages weren't adjusted right - also, the Ford C3/4 box
had a vacuum capsule which often failed and caused the box to do strange
    things.
Iow, it *might* be a relatively simple fix.

Accompanied by the sound of a chisel on slate Phil
Has the front bumper taken a knock on either of the corners? If you bump any
of the 5 sensors in a minor knock it can trigger the light next time it's
    started.

Otherwise your local auto spark can interrogate the brain and find out which
sensor is broken. They're normally about £30 each.

  16. That would fit with the fact that when the transporter bloke came to
take it to the garage he put the box into park and it started rolling
    backwards off the transporter..
    Indeed. New car beckons methinks.

  17. Nope. Other than a (very) minor scrape on one side the car is unmarked.
Garage says its a known fault (clockspring) that would get preplaced
under warranty if we keep the car..

  18. Go on then - who else does on a regular basis?
You idiot. It has *everything* to do with what you post. Most people
(me included) only know you through what you post.

If you post like an arrogant, pigheaded, moronic cretin that's what
people treat you like. It's a pretty simple one-to-one correlation.

To assume otherwise is just paranoia - and before you try to bring your
racial origin into this remember people were treating you in exactly
the same way *before* you revealed it.
And once again you make unwarranted assumtions. How do you know your
    posts are 'wholly inoffensive'?
I can't think of a better term for it. It's reminiscent of the sort of
childish names that kids use in the school playground. Maybe you fit in
well as a school teacher - after all in terms of emotional and social
development you barely seem to have managed to have escaped puberty.

I think TOG is right - you are not really worth bothering with. Yes -
while you are not on one of your childish tantrums you can post some
useful or interesting stuff but the signal to noise ratio is getting
    too low to be worthwhile.

Phil, I'll answer the rest of this this evening, as the pre-back-to-school
meeting is in 35 minutes, but just ..

I agree, although at the time there weren't the anti-Semitic remarks that
Ace, TOG and Ben 'Kill The Israelis!' Blaney now spout.

  20. Generally means the parking pawl is broken, that's all. Was a common
problem on the older boxes, many of which did thousands of miles
afterwards with no trouble (well, no trouble caused by that, but lots of
trouble from simply being shite autoboxes).
Believe it or not, I'm actually a slushbox liker - it's just that they
do tend to go a bit wronger when abused and it's so much easier (and
cheaper) to fix or replace a manual.
