    A moot point I think.
If I was captivated by the scenery around, and wanting to see what my
friends were doing, and was trying to ensure I didn't fall off, and
wondering if I had enough fuel to last, and in particular what the
woman on my back made of it all, I wouldn't be bored at all. In fact
an entirely neutral and consistent response from my lover would be
    exactly what I wanted.

Exactly. For noisy one-on-one a Kwaka, and for tantric sex a
    Yamahaaaaah.

Working backwards, I seem to have a couple of bits of rough & a
    high-maintenance hooker for the weekends.

    Cane probably wants a Ural.

The degree and type of feedback depends entirely on how you calibrate the
ropes and cable ties. And the voltage.

    Indeed.

Possibly why I've had some of my best scratching sessions on a VFR800,
    in the past.

Some people lambast the linked brakes on these, but I found that once
you get used to them they're actually a plus, and I suspect I'm
actually quicker point to point cross country on one of these than the
    R6 I had (1).

The problem then (IMHO), can sometimes then be that you get a bit
complacent... but I have to say I never ended up with any real 'shit,
no idea how I didn't end up binning it' moments on one of these, no
matter how hard I pushed them.

    (1) 'You obviously can't ride for shit, then'... thought I'd get that
    in before anyone else. ;-)

  12. Yeah, but there are also bikes that handle well and which communicate
    with you.

Years ago, I remember Royce Creasey summarising it in early
    pooter-speak. On a test of a BMW R45, IIRC.

He said that good bikes operated with the rider in a 'closed loop'
system but the R45 was 'open loop'.

I rode your 'Bird and was mightily impressed, but 60mph felt like 80
which felt like 100 which felt like 120, except for the scenery passing
    faster and the wind noise.

    I'd still consider a 'Bird as a fast sports-tourer, but I'd mentally
pigeonhole it with my old 900 Diversion: very, very good at what it
does, but if it got flattened by a truck I wouldn't feel a pang.

You really need the ability to hold two condradictions simultaneously
without mental breakdown for that one. Freedictionary lists onanism as
masturbation *and* coitus interruptus ! I'm falling at the first hurdle
as an MZ doesn't really strike me as masturbatory material. The second
definition rings a bell though ;-).
