Well I think I should buy another bike for the summer.

Maybe a touring bike. Possible a sports bike.

    Japanese or Italian. Possibly American.

    Probably used but maybe new.

Money in the bank but no idea of what I want.

    GTR1400. 998S. Buell 1125R. Gixxer Thou. K1200GT. 08 Blade.

What's hot and what's not. I haven't been watching the new(ish) bike market
for a while. Obviously the newish 10R is too soft for consideration.

1125R - the one true V angle. I could be tempted myself. Are they
    actually on sale yet?

I understand they came out at the end of 2007. Looked nice at the NEC and
really rather well priced. I love the quirky brake/frame/exhaust stuff.
Now it's a "proper" engine and not an HD rehash I do wonder...

I don't quite understand the need for both the GTR1400 and the
    ZZR1400.
    Nice enough.
Only if you don't mind using breakdown recovery a lot.
The new ones are funny looking.
I like the looks of the K1200R, but they're hideously expensive for
something with a poor rep for reliability.
I've already owned more than enough Hondas for a lifetime (2).
    Triumph Rocket Three.

An incredibly ugly engine, but as it is hidden under a fairing who
cares. More to the point I would have a dealer within 2 miles rather
than having to cross the channel. Though when I needed a new indicator
for the Tart (don't ask) it was the local Buell dealer that had one on
    the shelf.

In this instance I win, actually I won the bike and get presented
with it by Honda on the 12th, I HAVE to have a squirt back
along the motorway just to say I have ridden it, then its for sale.

it's a pity the fairing that hides the incredibly ugly engine is also
    incredibly ugly.

And speaking of incredibly ugly exhausts...

wait, I didn't say they were the same - I said I don't see the point
    of both of them existing.
exactly. The GTR1400 seems to be a fat, boated, detuned, uglier
version of the ZZR1400 - what sort of sad-sack would buy one?

    I bloody wouldn't - they're yet another example of Kawasaki's current
"let's make it ugly as ****" marketing campaign. I walk past a parked
one every morning on the way to work, and it's really completely
horrible, right down to detail level. And the exhausts are the size of
small cannons (though not admittedly in the same mental league as the
can on the new Tiger, which is totally mexico).
we'll he's a fat, bloated, detuned, uglier version of the sort of
    person who'd buy a ZZR1400, I guess.

    good call.

Though, on thinking about it, they must be quoting wet weight in the
specs, because I don't believe the dry weight would have increased
    25kg since my 2001 model.
