The only time I use the horn is to test it on the day before the mot.
Anything else would be a public admission of lack of attention.

    Hi,

I have a Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird. It's a brilliant bike but like
many bikes has the most pathetic horn. Despite my web searching I've not
found a replacement that sounds meatier.

    Any ideas?

You could have a look at this site, they have wav file samples you can
listen to (and it's not all air horns, see 'Snail' section)

    http://www.airhorns.co.uk/

It's also worth bearing in mind the current draw on a horn is quite
high. You can improve current transfer by using larger cross sectional
area (fatter) cable (less voltage drop in cable). Siting a relay near
the original horn means you don't need to rewire the original switch either.

I've not done it yet but a horn upgrade is on my list of things to do.
Currently its far too embarrassing to use when I get cut up - so I tend
to just give it a large portion of revs, not ideal...

Didn't we do this a few years back where someone fitted an air horn from an
    Inter City 125?

I always wanted this one and had to settle for dixie horns when Halfords
    didn't sell them.

Now, if only I had the space to fix five trumpets...

Fiamm, Halfords, single or in pairs. Fitted a pair to my SV and they
certainly waken the dozy inattentive twats.

Niceley put, and true in my experience as well.

At my last MOT the tester said " and now the horn ? I just looked at
    him and smiled.

Oh, I don't know. I've used mine when I wanted to get someone's
attention as they reversed towards me. Also used it when I wanted to
draw someone's attention to the gestures I was making at them. No lack
    of attention at all.

One of my lad's scooter riding associates has fitted such a device to his
Piaggio Zip - a sort of twat early warning device.

    That's not legal though.

What's the legality of installing a FO horn (on the bike)?
