    Hi,

    I'm looking to buy a Honda CBR600F about a 2002 or 2003 model. I notice some
people are advertising a Honda CBR600F 2002 models as Honda CBR600F-2. After
looking on the internet the F-2 model was made between 1991-1995, does
anybody know what the F-2 model is? It appears the 98-99 model was the
    600F-W and the 99-00 was 600F-X and the 00-01 was the 600F-Y. There doesn't
seem to be any reference to the F-2 model on the Honda WEB site. If you can
clarify the situation for me it would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks
    Richard

F1 thro' F4 are US designations for the carburettor CBR600 versions

F4i is used for the later fuel injection bikes

During the 1990s CBR6 were in short supply in the UK so parallel imports
from Europe & the US were common. The seller probably has an imported
    bike.

This website has some photos of the US spec bikes which were mainly
avaialble in different colour schemes to the Euro bikes.

Some UK dealers have adopted the US designation as it more clearly
identifies which model bike is for sale. E.g. in the UK designation
there is no real difference between an FV or an FW. But FW to FX
involved a major revision. Some dealers would describe the FW as an F3
and the FX as an F4 so that they only need to remember the specs [1]of 4
    models

Obviously, as you want a fairly recent, fuel injected bike, you need to
look for something that may be described as an F4 or an F4i

[1] and no doubt pricing comes into it. Sell an FV for FW money by
    calling them both an F3.

    doesn't

According to the back cover of the Haynes manual ("CBR600F2 & F3 Fours, 91
to 98") the letters and years match up to the two models in the following
    ways:

    CBR600F2 models: M, N, P, R - years 91, 92, 93 and 94.
    CBR600F3 models: S, T, V, W - years 95, 96, 97 and 98.

/Claus - with what seems to be a "P-model" and looking forward to replacing
    that model name... :)

Honda have recycled the F1-F4 designators, for the european bikes they
started using numbers once they got to FW in 2000. So F1 is 2001, F2
    2002 etc.

The merkin F4 model corresponds to a UK 2001 CBR600F-1 Sport, as they
dropped the non-sport model over there. Their F3 corresponds to an FW
    over here.
