The original Benly, got me up and down the
country from the M62 to Portsea about 15
years ago, and with a well-documented flaw
    in the camshaft.

They keep wearing unevenly and aren't of an
    ubiquity in breakers' yards.

So, old bike enthusiasts, try to find one which
has retained its centre stand is my feeling.

Great mpg, though, when running right, and
a good object lesson in why used motor oil
should be disposed of by competent parties
and not just slung down the drain into the
    water system.

Ah, the experienced and qualified mechanics
who were left flummoxed by that particular one.

Makes me feel almost semi-divine (he said
    with characteristic modesty).

Would you like to try that again, in English? With work, you could
not only make your series of unconnected statements comprehensible,
but you may also succeed in constructing a sentence that isn't a
    paragraph.

They wear unevely because when parked on a sidestand
the majority of the time the oil softens the metal.

    That's what I concluded.

Though it was nice to be asked by someone who isn't
in throes of acute Tourette's syndrome.

Didn't you say something about regular Sunday morning rides.

Care to piss off on one until the excess alcohol is out of your
    system from last night?

  5. Really? News to me. One of the toughest engines Honda ever made. But you
probably haven't the experience of them.

    Nope. still total garbage.

**** off if you don't like being sworn at. UKRM always calls a **** a
****, and you're showing all the signs.

  7. He could be trying to troll, in a rather amateurish way. I mean, nobody
is really that ignorant, are they? Scoring nul points in *every* post.

If he makes a spectacularly incorrect assertion in his next oeuvre, we
can take him as a troll.

    CD185 camshafts wear unevenly.

This was remarked upon by both the guy I got it off
and I the guy I sold it to--that the one in mine hadn't.

That is the CD185, please note, not the CD200T.

As they were discontinued before you passed your
test in the first place (see flames passim) it seems
faintly ridiculous to refer to them as "one of the
    toughest engines HONDA ever made"

I think we can already make both assumptions, TBH.

  13. Camshaft bushes are identical in both bikes.

Cams are different - I think the 200 had mildly different timing. If
the bush is the same, it's hard to see what else would be different in
the cam, except the timing. The bush is the main bearing component.

Unless it's the lobes that wear?

Certainly never heard of 185 probs, but then the 185 was sold for such a
short time in the UK that very few made it onto the road before they
hopped it out to 200cc and bolted on the missing starter.

    <shrug>

I bet you can tell me all about the development
    of upside-down forks too!

But I bet you couldn't not nod at a single other
    biker for a month.

I'm right on the CD185 thing. Or two accomplished
mechanics at different ends of the country who
don't as far as I know know one another but who
were both known to my immediate social circle
either a) colluded to lie to me or b) got their facts
wrong about exactly the same component of
    exactly the same engine.

Otherwise, the guy to whome the comment about
Direct Access numpties who've only ever done
Dry Miles to and from Track Days you took as
personal to you appears to have shut the **** up.

Which suggests I was, erm, right and wet roads
are not, of themselves, slippy (which isn't what
I was saying in the first place).

So the only pattern I notice here is one in which
I turn up with a real life anecdote that if any of the
rest of you had delivered would have garnered
nods of respectful approval and get flamed the ****
out of by a bunch of frustrated middle managers.

Basically mate, if you can't pick it up after a spill
of any kind - and, let's face it some **** can always
come along and take it off its stand because even
you when touring won't be able to park it 100%
reliably so as they can't - then you should ask
whether or not you should be riding it at all.

So, can you pick up your FJ off the road when it's
fully laden for a camping trip?

If you can't then I suggest you try not nodding at
any other biker for a month.

    Bet you can't...

...even if you say you won't I'll still bet it's because
    you can't...

Blimey you're crap at this. There are expert wankers on here, e.g. Des,
to whom [1] you couldn't hold a candle. Now do piss off there's a good
chap and come back when you're entertaining and/or funny.

Actually, I have seen a 185 with cam bearings so oval I could wiggle
the camshaft up and down. Obviously due to infrequent oil changes.

Apart from that, OP's obviously been at the carb cleaner.
