Honda CL360 Wiring Question

I've got an old beater Honda cl360. most of the wiring on the perches
and whatnot is all trashed, and I don't really look forward to
fiddling with the bike - the condition is too poor to justify putting
any money in it to me, so i've decided to try and scrap most of the
electric jazz. Lights, turn signals, horn, and so on is all going. I'm
just wondering if anyone has looked into something like this - i just
want to use the bike to beat around in the fields and trails around
the house. It has no plates, won't be ridden at night or on public
property and so on. All i really want is possibly the electric start,
and if it's easier to get rid of that as well, then so be it. Will
this thing even require a battery? And also, how will i go about it?
Can i just rip the perches and all the wiring/lights/lamps/etc off
without disabling the bike? Most of the wiring is rotting away anyway.
I'm too unfamiliar with bikes to just dive into this, so I figured i'd
ask. As it is, the bike doesn't run - probably needs a new set of
points and a good cleaning up inside. Once i get to that point though,
i just want to know what will be required to get the bike running. Any
ideas or similar experiences would be appreciated.

Yup. It has a battery and coil ignition system. You could run what is called a
interesting enough. how does the ignition figure into this? the
previous owner is still digging around for a key, or from what I
understand I could have one made from the numbers on the ignition
module itself, but since the thing is never going to really leave my
garage unless i'm driving it in a field or tinkering, I may just get
rid of that as well. The lamps and blinkers and whatnot are now
removed from the bike entirely. I'd like to get it down to maybe just
enough electrical components to charge the battery during operation,
perhaps electric start, and spark generation. Also - I haven't
replaced the points on the bike yet, but once I do - will the plugs
generate a spark even if the key isn't in the bike? 'Till the previous
owner finds the damn key, i'd like to be able to know if i'm making
any headway in my repairs, so if I could at least get the bike to
generate a spark, not necessarily run, without the key, that'd be
great. Otherwise I could be messing with a dozen different things
trying to get it to spark when it's really just missing the key.

It's an interesting bike at any rate, even if it is a miserable,
    unkept mess.

CL and CB 360 would run the iggie w/o a battery in circuit. They used
alternator as a magneto. I have one now in RR frame which has n wiring
except the iggie wiring, runs great.

i don't suppose you could give a simple description of the wiring
circuit(s) used on that bike? i'm not really familiar with "points"
ignition and whatnot, but your implementation is pretty close to the
minimal electric idea i had in mind.

    Thanks.

Go to the 'Best' URL, in tagline. At bottom of first page are links.
Click on 'Articles' and then on the maggie writeup. There's a full
description of how to set one up, and a circuit diagram.

This may not apply to 360 ... I think in that case all you do is wire the
alt to the points; the correct leads should be in place already. It's
been a while since I fooled with the setup on my 360 and it isn't at hand
    to me right now.
