Help for a new owner of a 1970 CT-70?? The bike seems to run great,
    1000 miles. Manual 4 speed.

Suggestions for maintenance checks? In particular, I have drained oils
(presumably engine, trans), but cannot locate the filler location for
the trans oil. Where? Is it hypoid 90? It is a little resistant going
into 1st- is there a tweak???

Thanks. I plan to get a manual soon.

  2. Every Honda engine I can remember has an oil filler cap on the right
    hand side of the engine...
I can't remember ever having seen a Japanese motorbike engine that had
a separate transmission. They all use the engine oil to lubricate the
transmission as well as the engine...

If you had hypoid 90-weight gear oil in a separate transmission that
also got its lubrication from the 90-weight, you wouldn't be able to
disengage the clutch, it would be too sticky...
If the engine has so few miles on it, it's likely that the old oil is
thicky and gooey and has gummed up the clutch plates as well as the
shifter drum and shifter forks and the transmission gears that are
supposed to slide probably don't slide very well...

While you have the engine drained of oil, you might try flushing the
old sludgy oil out with about 2 quarts of kerosene. Don't run the
engine with kerosene in it, just kick the engine over many times and
then drain the kerosene out thoroughly before refilling the engine. You
might even want to take the clutch cover off so you can get at the
    clutch and clean it out...

But, I don't recommend taking the clutch over off unless you have a new
gasket on hand. You might check with www.oldbikebarn.com to see if they
    have gaskets for your machine...
