Heh. Whilst that makes sense, I have to wonder if there's not a kick
    in the cods involved somewhere.

    Stopping where and when?

I thought it was 2100 or so from Adelaide to Perth, and 1300 from
    Adelaide to Sydney?

I'm pretty sure it took us 3 reasonably easy days from Adelaide to
Perth at about 700km a day. I usually to Adelaide to Sydney in 1
and a half days because I don't do the "kip by the side of the road
    and keep going" thing anymore.

  4. you say that like you think we want to...

... judging from the above answer, and given your recent "big bikes are
crap around town" thread, you're greatly lacking in consistency and
    credibility :)

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I love my big bikes but they need to be treated with respect. Hence
downgrading the Strom and Fighter to a Hornet. That and 12 grand in my pocket.

    Easy? 500km days.

    Touring? 1000km days.

    Serious numb bum? 1500kms days.

Divide the distance by those :)

  6. KLR650...
Cheap tyres, cheap to run, good tourer, and good on fuel..

Decent head lights and fairing too (for a dual purpose bike).

Annoyingly tall seat height, but you can get a set of dogbones cheap to
    fix that.

almost worth keeping the Weestrom...except the tyre price ( somewhere
in between the KLR and Hornet)

agree with both of you, but if you dont like the Strom as a commuter,
you will prolly hate the KLR

    just my 2 Cents

    mh
(who is going from a V-strom to a KLE....but dosent commute)

Perth to Adelaide is 2700. I would stop at Balladonia, Pt Augusta, not
go to Adelaide, and somewhere on the Hay Plain.
    You getting old Zebee?

So do I, but not for the prices they charge between Norseman and
    Ceduna.

  14. They don't just look heavy. I had to pick mine up a few weeks ago after my
girlfriend thought it would be a good idea to crash her scooter into me. It
was not easy but luckily I was pissed off and had the hulk strength thing going
    on. : )

  15. I made a bit on my 1000 but the 650 I bought ended up having a rod through the
donk which meant I had to part it out. Broke even but it cost me a lot of time
    and money.

Good pick. Sorry just cost me time. I still have some bits left over for
spares for my bike and a frame, subframe and swingarm that I'll have to get rid
    of at some point.
