Honda prices

Anyone here got a handle on Honda prices? I have a "new" gas tank for a
Honda Rebel 450 I'm seriously thinking of selling. I seen one go on E-Bay
with a dent, some paint chipped, etc - for $356 and change - not counting
shipping. So, my question is, what does a "new" one go for? This is still in
the box. Never been mounted. I believe they are discontinued. One place said
the price - even with discontinued labeled next to it - was - $999.99. I
don't know if that was just a "random number plugged in - or IF that was
actual price. Last I checked, they were like $400. But since a used
(slightly damaged) one went for damned near that, maybe prices did change -
dramatically. I could call the Honda shop on Monday, but curiosity is
getting the better of me and I may choose to list Sunday on E-Bay. Actually,
I'll be parting out a whole bike. I was going to fix it up, but it has been
put off so long, I've lost interest. I still have the old tank too, but it
will have to be sent to one of those places which redoes them. This one is
    in bad shape.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

If you found someone that *really* wanted one the color that yours is, you'd
probably get $400, but I wouldn't be too proud. It might take a while to
find that buyer. Depending on the year, a clean bike would only go for
$1500 to $2000 and we aren't talking collectable or anthing like that.

I was taken aback yesterday in the Harley shop at a gas tank and pair of
    fenders on the wall: $4995.00.

Didn't look like any custom paint job either. Just generic metallic silver.
