Honda Trail 90 Ignition

My boy was given an old Honda Trail 90. It was running OK with the
choke closed, but now it will only run poorly at an idle. The plug
gets sooty and wet and it stops running. It seems to either be
getting too much fuel (although it quits when the choke is opened), or
else too weak of a spark. Any ideas? I don't have a manual, so it
would be helpful to know the following:
    What is the point setting?
    What is the plug setting?
    What plug should be used?
What is the capacitance value of the condenser?
What condenser could be used in place of the original?

    Thanks,

    Jim

  2. As the engine is effectively a C90 stepthru with gears, I'd imagine that
anything intended for a C90 would work, though I think your problem is
almost certainly carb-related rather than an ignition glitch.

That reminds me: sorting out my little CM200 Twinstar (rmt passim):
seemed to be running a bit rich and fouled a plug. One coil, one carb,
one set of points, and suspicion on the carb. Wrong pilot screw setting,
    wrong needle setting.

Put everything back to as per the manual and it purred away. If only it
    was always this easy.
