But does it make the loom simpler? That, after all, is what CANbus is
    for.

    Ain't technology wonderful?

Wasn't it CANbus that allowed Audis to be told to open windows or
unlock themselves (I forget which) by way of a sidelight bulb socket?

I won't be bothering with auxiliary charging for the current car
because it doesn't seem to suffer from lack of use like the last one.
I think the fact that it's a diesel with a bloody great truck battery
has something to do with it.

2mA was actually slightly less than I was expecting, TBH.
Doesn't surprise me in the least.

It's funny, modern technology solves all sorts of problems, and makes
so many things possible, then presents us with a whole new set of
    problems.

Yes. I was involved in a project at Xerox c1990 on the last of their
analogue product ranges of photocopiers. Something like £100 per machine
was saved by reducing the amount of copper wire used: making wire harnesses
is hugely labour intensive and therefore expensive.
Heh. They probably used the same third party to write the firmware as
Xerox. We had loads of problems dubugging the systems as the R&D bods
tended to use the production lines & customers for beta testing.
