Maaate...I've taken your advice on board, but I'm not at all negative,
I've just come to the conclusion that I should think of it as a second
hand bike that comes without warranty and enjoy it as it is (which I
am). I just don't expect Feeney and co. to do things that you would
normally from someone who sold you a new motorbicycle, and I'll never
buy off them again. The temptation to trade it on a Brutale 910 is very
high, however at this stage I'll hang onto, take it to the UK with me,
and find out if the MV/Cagiva etc arms have a better reputation there.
If not I'll trade it on a Benelli TNT in '07 (unless something better
    comes out).

Gotta say though, I was surprised to find it takes less effort to turn
in the Raptor than it does the 05 R1 in the shed (not that you have to
be Arnie in either case). It's a bloody good bike.

The good thing is just about everything on the bike is available
somewhere other than MV/C. (OEM or aftermarket)
By the way, checked with my flatmate who's a lawyer, and the "no
warranty on the frame rusting" attempt in the warranty booklet is over
ridden by Trade Practises Act, they're on the hook to fix it if I want
to go them, I'm still debating as to whether I want to get nasty and
force them to fix the problem or whether I'll just ignore it and make it
someone else's problem in 12 months time.

It ain't a hunk of shit, it is in fact the best bike I've ever owned,
bar none for the type of riding I do. It's also the equal best bike I've
ever ridden, for the type of riding I do.

(it's that "fun" thing again Pisshead ;-) The 05 R1 is a vastly quicker
bike, but it's *too* civilised(1) and not pillion friendly, the 02 R1
was way quicker and just as fun, but not at all pillion or distance
friendly, the TRX was a lot of fun, but very primitive suspension and
heaps less power made it harder work and a bit frustrating at times when
you just wanted that bit more grunt)

    (1) The 05 R1 didnt try to smack me in the face with the tank even once!
What's with that(2) ? They've broken the brumby into saddle - it no
longer tries to throw you off any time it thinks you're not paying
    attention.
    (2) Yeah Yeah, I know, it's probably 20secs faster around Eastern Creek
in the hands of Joe Average. But it just doesn't scare the pants off you
    like the early ones could.

  7. There ya go. It's too refined mate. Which should make the new Norton more
fun and the older ones even more fun!

Current exit date is Sept/Oct -ish ('06) (dependent on a couple of
factors), so I'd be looking to be shipping sometime around then or later
(so presumably March 07 unless you have a crate going sooner). I can't
imagine I'm going to want to do much riding from Nov to Mar in the UK
anyway so I'll probably just leave it with the mate who lent me the R1
for a couple of months until you're ready to ship it. Either that or
sell it here and buy something over there (which may be the most cost
effective - depends on how bad the depreciation is)

Did you respray it or did it come from the factory that way ?

BTW I never asked, which model and colour do you have ?

It's the bog-standard Raptor, 2004 model built late 2003. Frame and seat
(the front part) are brown. Back part of seat is black/grey, tank and front
    guard are red.

    I really like it.

Errmm unless I'm going colour blind there seems to be an absence of
    brown bits on that bike....

A combination of colour-blindness and similarity of two dark colours,
perhaps. The wheels are brown, too. The tyres are black.

Health reasons prevent me riding for the rest of my life. Anyone fancy a
    nice red Raptor, just run-in?
