Well, it only seems like 5 minutes ago that I fired up my 9.6k modem and
announced his arrival in the world here, and today, in the blink of an
eye, he's off to his first lecture at Bath University.

OK, it's a 6 day series of mathematics lectures arranged between the
university and the Royal Institution, not 3 years away, but it feels
    like a big step...

So, in the same way I celebrated his birth with the purchase of a large
black off-road styled motorcycle, I've done the same today.

  2. I know. I look back t our two and wonder where 20 years have gone.
    Nothing telescopes time like kids.
    Heh. Well done.

Tell me about it. The lad has to choose his GCSE options this term. The
first step on the journey is imminent. Still, after our trip to Durham
before Xmas he is a bit more interested in going to University than he
was after meeting quote, "lots of clever ladies".

"In what furnace was thy brain?"

I'm only at the start of it, but my son is 2 in a month or so. Really
does only feel like yesterday that he was born.

I wasn't suggesting today. I'm around all next week with the odd gap
in the timetable so let me know when you're free.

Ah, it's just Saturdays that we'll be there. This, next, then all in march.

T's now in the city centre, in superdry. Surely she knows we can't afford
that- I've just bought a bike FFS!

  9. Grandchildren. They double in size and volume level every time you see
    them.

No problem. I'm tied up some Saturdays, but not all, and I might have
to be in for some Human Powered Aircraft issues anyway.

Grandparents. They keep shrinking. And smell of wee.

  15. Does that mean she starts "big school" next year? If so, be afraid.
This is when she mutates into something you barely recognise.

Eldest son went to Teesside Uni in October and made me so proud. I
never thought I'd ever say it 'cos he was mostly a teenage **** ... but
    I really miss him!

When he came home at christmas I just couldn't stop smiling .... when
he went back again I swear I got properly depressed for a while.

FWIW, if they survive they usually become human again at around 21.
