Well we made it back home folks.
gNatalie didn't seem too traumatised by her Qantas Business-Class
leather-trimmed Skybed while I was down the back in economy (still very
    roomy on an A330).
She's got to wear the splint for another 3 weeks and then start physio:

I haven't heard the verdict on the GS yet.

Thanks again (again) to everyone who helped and sorry I was a bit frantic
to get around and see everyone I should've (Coney, Joe, et al).

Glad you guys got back OK, commiserations and hopefully you've still got
all your bits attached and aren't No-doodle yet.

    It'll buff out ...

(seriously, I can't see why it'd cost much to fix up ... assuming
that fork leg is straightenable, probably less than your insurance
would go up if you wrote it off ... Happy to help out if I can ...)

I'm starting to think this may be a good idea Sharks.
The fork-leg will need replacing as it's not bent but is kinked-in at the
    fork-seal.
The sub-frame can surely be welded (as it's only gotta' hold up the
headlight and gauges) and the rest is standard smash-repair stuff.
I'll see how much they want for the corpse........

    It is fuggin' MAGIC!
On the side of the road she had a 2" diameter circular scoop of flesh
missing clear down to the bone of the kneecap but the plastic-surgeon has
turned that into an s-shaped cut about 4" long and with no visible
    stitching.
The big toe is similarly (and magically) re-constructed.
By next GP you'll be flat-out noticing a mark...

  12. Gee - that's gotta be worth a few sympathy points with the peer-group.
Ahhh. 'Tis a mere flesh wound - can't see why you couldn't have ridden
    it back home.

Is it just me or she has that
    "if-it-wasn't-for-these-crutches-I'd-be-leaping-over-there-and-tearing-you-a-new-arsehole"
    look about her ...

(In a house full of females, I often get that look, even from the
    four-year-olds)

Hmmm. Odd. Still, they're odd forks. Unless you put a proper
    front-end on it :).
STREETFIGHTER! G'wan, you know you want to. And it's pig ugly
already, so you might as well!

As you say, depends on what the, uh, residual value is. As I recall,
it's in pretty good nick otherwise.

Funny enough we ended up very near Greensborough two or three times on
Friday (while we were revelling in the awesome power of our automatic Avis
Corolla) but were always hurrying somewhere....
