.... for hankering after a small car?

I mean I am over 50 and all that ...

Should I seek help or is it too late?

I don't know if the sporty models are any better , but the run of the mill
C2s I've had as courtesy cars have been abysmal heaps of shit

I've done 3500 miles in it since June. It hasn't broken yet which is quite
an achievement for a Citroen. Tenacious grip from the Michelin tyres,
although the wide profile makes the steering a little wayward on bumpy back
lanes. Engine pulls well, as long as you rev the tits off it.

I've no idea why they put rear seats in though. There's no leg room even
when a short arse like me is driving. Split rear hatch is useful sometimes
but I still think I'd prefer a single door with no sill to the boot floor.
Aircon and MP3 playing stereo is nice.

Eh? Shitty as they are my experience of Citroens is, excluding the
horrible hydraulic suspension they're really very reliable.

They seem to have a bit of a reputation as being unreliable and not built
very well. I've had numerous comments from colleagues, who often refer to
JDPower reliability surveys and their ilk. I'm always a little sceptical
about such surveys as the sample sizes are often small and the type of
person that fills them in is not always representative[0].

I think early C2s did have issues. They had a batch of faulty temperature
sensors which caused overheating issues[1]. The flappy paddle gearbox is
    temperamental. Mine's a manual. It's got a 3 year warranty so I don't
really care that much. As I'm buying it on a lease I'll just hand it back
to Capital Bank when the warranty runs out, if it turns out to be
    temperamental.

[0] my views may be skewed by working for a Fiat dealership in the 1980s,
where making a rebuttal against a Which? carrying punter was an everyday
    occurrence.
[1] It annoys me that there isn't a temperature gauge, just a red overtemp
light. Although a gauge wouldn't be any use if the sensor provided errant
    data...

The ZX was pretty bullet proof; although IIRC Bee had problems with some
'suspension stuff' with hers. Can't quite remember what.

Yes, but it had some passive rear wheel steering that sometimes caused
problems. Or a subframe thing. Or something. There was a weakness
    somewhere...
Well, they used the PSA XUD diesel lump so that's quite possible.

Easy enough IME. Virtually identical to the Pug 306 setup.
