How about people who spend that amount on a single colour crash
    helmet?

It doesn't bother me much. But I do like to put people off doing
    business with them.

I've found them to be cheap and efficient. So far. No sign of the visor
I ordered this time last week, mind, so I may change my mind yet.

Scraggy scribbled on the back of a napkin:
Up (first notch), they don't do forward.

I assume you've got an idea as to what happens if you do this in the
rain and rainwater gets on the inside of the visor?

You stick with your £20 crash helmet and I'll stick with my nice
expensive black Schoei which fits just as well 4 years after it's
purchase and will probably fit just as well in another 4 years unless
I feel like buying a replacement.

Just in case you ever wondered what you get for your money when you
buy a decent crash helmet it's mainly down to weight, fit, noise,
ventilation and most importantly a nice shiny gold ACU sticker. Do you
get an ACU sticker on a Lidl helmet?

Ah, my bad, I was told they used the same system as in my Concept. The visor
can be locked forward by about 2/3mm, aids clearing or ventilation dependant
    on circumstance.

During my CBT early last year I was told during the 'helmet care' part
of the training ("don't put stickers on them" "there are n types of
helmet" "don't drop it") that the 'suggested'[1] life of a helmet was
a few thousand hours of exposure to the sun but a helmet should be
replaced every five years even if it appears to be in good condition.

[1] Who 'suggests' the life span of a helmet wasn't touched upon,
    however.

  12. If you're consistantly dropping your helmet, I wouldn't be worried about
whether it happens before or after the engine is running.

Well that's the difference between your £20 lid and Andy's £300 lid.

His hearing is likely to be a lot better than yours, in say 10 years
    time.

To be perfectly honest, if you're going to wear a 20 quid open face Lidl
helmet then you may as well wear a cornflakes box on your head instead.
You're the sort of person who wouldn't wear a helmet if the law didn't
demand it, so any attempt at reasoning with you is futile.

He's obviously happy with his life so I can't understand his
    reluctance to protect his head.

It all depends how you ride. If he's doing 100+ MPH all the time and I'm
buzzing around town at 30 MPH, then that statement is very debateable.

I would actually, it keeps me head warm.

What is there to reason with me about? Are you getting commission from Arai?

Do you think it's noisier at 100mph on a quiet country road than it is
at 30mph in a town full of heavy traffic?

I'll admit that my hearing will probably have suffered more in the
next 20 years than your but that's down to riding bikes with race
exhausts and working in a noisy environment.
