He probably should be because people will change to using Arai crash
helmets after a year of the crap he sells.

I can;t recall what Andy's got but Arai lids are crap in terms of noise.
Well, my Quantum F is anyway. I'm sure someone told me it was to do with the
side pod design. The RX7R (or whatever the top model is) is meant to be even
    noisier.

True, but I'd still put my money on an Arai lid being better than a
    piddle^H^H^H^H Lidl lid.

    I'd agree completely with this.

They are bloody comfortable and long lasting though.

Yes. Unless I'm behind an articulated lorry with 24V air horns
    constantly blasting away.
    There you go.
ISTR that continuous exposion to loud noise will naturally cause your
ears to create wax. I had this problem when I worked in a loud factory,
even though I wore ear protectors.

    That's where you're mistaken. It's no noisier at 100mph than 30mph (on
my bike) but that's because my crash helmet eliminates a lot of the
wind noise. Even having the vents open doesn't make it worse and the
only time I bother with ear plugs is if I'm away on holiday doing a
    lot of miles every day.

Mine's a Schoei and it's a lot quieter than the AGV I has before it.
I've never owned an Arai because I found they didn't fit as well as
the Schoei when I was looking at new helmets.

Well, there was this time that...

    No, that one's boring.

Give me a bit of thinking time.

  12. You'll regret it 10 or 20 years down the line, when you wish you'd worn

Ah... pikey helmet, pikey bike without electric start.

    Figures ;-)

Oh... and try not leaving the lid on the seat in future - one would have
hoped you'd have had the brains to work that one out for yourself by now,
    but seemingly not.

  15. It's long term exposure to a slightly loud noise that does the damage in
this case. It's insidious, you don't notice the hearing loss until it's
    too late.

    Yeah, right.

They never get shielded from any wind blast (1) by the rider, do they..

    (1) Depending of course on the bike and sizes of persons concerned of
    course.

And some colourful full-face lid with "Motrax" and "Micron" stickers
plastered all over it ain't pikey?

Electric start is for pussies who don't know how to kickstart a bike. I
like kicking the engine over, it gives me a sense of giving something
back to my bike for all its hard work.
I'm weaning myself out of the habit. AFAIR I haven't done it since I
    started using my latest lid.

Is that what you've got then, or are you implying I have... in which case

    Oh dear.

Much as I'm fond of my current two wheeled squeeze, I tend to find rewarding
it with regular oil changes and the like, enough.
