I wear contact lenses, another reason I don't fancy riding with the
visor up, I'm worried they'll get blown out!

I don't think he wants a soiled one.

You must have ill-fitting lenses then. I've worn both hard and soft
lenses for the last umpteen years. The hard ones only every gave me
grief when it was very polluted. Even then, they were only more
irritated. Since changing to soft, I have *never* had a problem with
riding with them (or leaving the lid open and riding too).

I've been using these for over six years and they're fine with a visor
open. admittedly i only do this when I cant see out of the thing
    though.

I've never had a problem. And I do ride with the visor up quite often.
Give it a try. If you're that nervous, have a couple of spare lenses
handy. It's unlikely that one will blow out, but two at the same time?

Well, I've just gone back to lenses (the same type as you) and I get
less windblast around the eyes with them in, than I do with specs on.

Hmmm...I've never really felt the need to ride with my visor up while
thrashing the bike along a dual-carriageway or something, although I
might when the weather starts getting really hot. Cheers.

I've had the chance to test this again. My bloody visor catch fell off
on the way to work and I had the visor flapping away like a good 'un. I
had to remove the visor on my way to work and even though I still
managed to do 70mph in parts, with my eyes watering (albeit with
sunglasses), my lenses didn't fall out.

    HTH.
