    It's not really a case of 'not minding': it's more that the original
    perp just looks more and more of a total dork with every desperate
    twist and turn. Fess up, and the world moves on. Otherwise you just
    dig a deeper and deeper hole, to the amusement of the audience.

    My first 'big bike', a 750K2, had just this repair method but with sheet tin
    and body filler. All sanded down and sprayed with silver paint.
    I only notice the bodge when _my_ chain snapped and burrowed its way into
    the gearbox.
