Because you don't wipe the spanners after you have done something that
    does get your hands greasy?

  3. Spanners, you say... do the molls come into it at some stage?

    intact.kneeslider, Aug 23, 2007
  4. Nope... so, tell me, how is adjusting the chain supposed to get grease
    onto your hands?

I know this might be a wrench for you to believe.

  6. Chain gets lubed. Lube sprays everywhere on swingarm. Nuts to tension chain
are on swingarm. Spanners get put on nuts and get greasy. Spanners get wiped
down before going in toolkit. You following me? Here's me thinking you were a
    bike rider.

The first part of the scooter boom was inner city, at least that's my
impression from where I saw scooters.

Not so many in the middle and outer rings, lots in the CBD. (Sydney
    anyway...)

That's who has to be riding the 50s for example, and probably a lot of
    the 125s.

Now more larger scooters are being sold, I see more outside the inner
ring, and I see more larger capacity ones parked. So maybe the 2nd
wave is people who were in cars.

  11. It does?
    With bare hands?
Nope, because I can't say I've ever had much of an issue with chain
lube, or much of anything oil-based and sticky, for that matter,
ending up on the chain adjusters.
Well, I saw a picture of a bike on teh intarwebz once...

My son bought a 50 cc scooter on a whim and to look cool. Also because he is
the only one of my children who doesn't have an R licence (Oh the shame,
where did I fail?). The thing is now three years old, I've had to majorly
repair it twice. I've personally done about 300 kms on it and now it sits in
the office as alternative transport for any staff who have a vehicle problem
and need other transport. It's now done 1200 kms. I'd hate to work out the
    running cost per km.

I have to say things have improved Theo.

Agreed. Although no-one else has ever charged me for some warm water to heat
up the baby's bottle. On our first drive over 1600 kms of dirt road, we
stopped at Nundroo and asked for some milk. Sorry don't have any, oh, it's
for the baby is it? I'll just be a minute, I'll see if the cow will give me
some, it's nearly milking time. A few minutes later we had milk and were on
    our way, at no charge.

and bear in mind that a posting to Caiguna is not a promotion......

    Moike
(yes, I'm aware that there's no police station at caiguna, and that's
probably not how you spell it, but they make a nice burger.)

Or forget your ego and go up a size.

Try lycra bicycle shorts. The extra padding makes a difference, and no
one can see the lycra under leathers. (and amazingly, they make them in
    really big sizes!)
