I have an HP PSC1210 all in one printer-scanner-copier thingy. Up until
three days ago it worked fine at all it was meant to do. I tried to scan
a couple of pics of my kids the other day and it won't have it, says
there is a communication problem between the unit and my pc. So I
unplugged the unit and uninstalled the software then reinstalled it as
per the instructions. I got the message that the drivers are loaded
correctly, but the pc can't complete the device set-up. Now it won't do
anything except copy remotely from the pc, it won't scan and won't
    print.

Anyone got any ideas as to what needs sorting and how to go about it
    please?

I take it you removed the software/drivers from windows setup? Did you
run the HP remove tool in the hp folder before you reinstalled? I seem
to remember it causes problems if you don't

    Tried doing a system restore?

That's what happens when I can't be arsed fiddling about either.

    Start|All Programs|Accessories|System Tools|System Restore, restore my
    computer to an earlier time.

With any luck you should have some System checkpoints on there. Click on
the calendar with the highlighted dates on it on a day you think the
    computer/scanner was working properly.

  7. You may need to remove all references from the registry manually of the
printer , then reload the installation software , had this problem on my
    old 1100c
and that was the method recommended by hp support

They also recommended uninstalling antivirus software (especially Norton )
