My father worked for Rothmans in the early 90's and we just found these
    pictures in an old envelope.

See if you can identify the bikes (easy), the year and the riders.

I know who the standing rider is, as it says on the back of the photo, and I
*think* I know who's on the bike.

    No prizes, just for fun.

Top one is Mick Doohan on an NSR500, dunno who the nip fella is though.

    I think it's Sinichi Itoh.

Doohan's helmet is a dead giveaway even in black and white, never mind his
    name on the bike.

It's impressive what sort of information a young mind will store for it to
be retrieved for the first time almost 15 years later. It's also sad that
the same damn blob will vehemently refuse to store stuff that's far more
    necessary/beneficial.

I googled his name after I managed to guess the correct spelling
(S*h*inichi), wikipedia confirms my memories that he was on a third works
bike that was actually faster on a straight line than the other two.

Boy, did I fancy those Rothmans NSRs back then. Gorgeous bikes.

  9. Wasn't he the first GP rider to be clocked at over 200 mph, at
    Hockenheim IIRC?
