On Monday night, I ate a big plateful of home-made chili con carne. Lovely, it was. Around 5 a.m. Tuesday, I regurgitated vast quantities of it down the bog. In between shivering spells, and sweating like a galley slave, (and taking the CBX for an MOT) I've survived on six cups of milky coffee, all of which have tasted awful. While the CBX was being tested, I treated myself to a coffee and an Eccles cake in a nearby cafe. True enough, they both tasted less than pleasant. I feel much better now, despite the aching ribs from the constant coughing(now subsided), but what puzzles me is this: Why don't I feel even a little bit hungry? -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/CBX1000Z |_\_____/_| ..89952../..24625.../..31928. Is someone slipping you diet pills ? Did you make it with kidney beans ? I nearly poisoned myself with undercooked kidney beans; but iirc it was about an hour after consumption that I boffed for Britain.
Tinned. Mrs Dodger reported no ill-effects, though did exhibit similar symptoms on Saturday/Sunday. I don't think the CCC is the culprit. -- | ___ Salad Dodger |/ \ _/_____\_ GL1500SEV/CBR1100XXX/CBX1000Z |_\_____/_| ..89952../..24625.../..31928. "The onset time from consumption of raw or undercooked kidney beans to symptoms varies from between 1 to 3 hours. Onset is usually marked by extreme nausea, followed by vomiting, which may be very severe. Diarrhea develops somewhat later (from one to a few hours), and some persons report abdominal pain. Some persons have been hospitalized, but recovery is usually rapid (3 - 4 h after onset of symptoms) and spontaneous." http://www.cfsan.fda.gov/~mow/chap43.html
This sounds very much like the vomting bug that did the rounds last year. We had 6 people off with it in the office on the same day. It was utterly horrible in terms of the sickness, fever and aches / pains. Lasted about a day or so. You won't feel hungry until your body is completely convinced that the bug has been dealt with - why would it want to eat when it'll just bring any food back up again? PC
You're wrong - that was in fact a very polite way of saying "Because, like many species of whale, your body has enough fat reserves to survive for six months without food". Yeah, agree with this - think it's a parvovirus BICBW. I picked one up from the "mud" on Tough Guy earlier this year, and spent the following day puking for Britain. Absolutely no appetite for a couple of days afterwards, and I still can't face courgettes (the last things I ate before the vomming started). I've had a cold for the past few days, and while the illness and gallons of snot aren't too much bother, the inability to smell or taste anything is really pissing me off!
