    Has ukrm done this yet?
Is July hypocrisy month? It's definitely lying thick on the ground at
    the moment.

Based on what facts? Have you heard the evidence already or are you
prejudging the court case just because you don't like what he did?

What, take the fall for a US airman suspected of several similar
    offences across Europe?

Jesus, there's a raft of assumptions buried in those two sentences.
I was referring to the hypocrisy of doing away with the death penalty
because all human life is sacred, then screaming (the media, at any
rate) about said sacred human life not having certain rights because
    they've been a bad person.
To make my position clear; if Huntley has a case he should get the
money, but I would prefer that we still had the death penalty for cases
like this, then this situation wouldn't arise.

See. That wasn't difficult was it? Why didn't you state your position to
begin with rather than make some vague allegation?

Anyway, des & dentist sitting in a tree, des & dentist sitting in a
    tree...

Well you've made your position clear further down, so I won't take up
the rights or wrongs of the person in question, but as one who has
first-hand experience of prison victimisation, I wouldn't wish it on
    my worst enemy.

I was lucky - one person decided that the battering with a hefty
battery-in-a-sock wasn't justified in the first case, then when they
came round later with the sugared boiling water I had the presence of
mind to very quickly douse myself with cold water, thence avoiding any
real last ing scarring. Just a little redness on the chest is
    occasionally visible.

By ****, that was a fucking horrible experience.

    You utter fuckwit.

It was the realisation that I agreed with you. It won't happen again.

If I'm not in jail, does the state have a responsibility to protect me?
Can I sue the state for not protecting me if I get stabbed?

Forgive me if this is an insensitive question, but why sugared? To make
    it sticky?

The sugar raises the boiling point of the liquid plus the water will
evaporate but leave the hot sugar behind, both increasing the chance of
    scarring.

No, not a trick question. I'm interested to know why you believe the
state assumes a higher responsibility for the personal protection of
citizens from actions of other citizens when they are imprisoned? [1]

[1] This was my interpretation of your comment, apologies if that is
    incorrect.

I think it is a fair question. Arguably he should have been kept in
isolation for his own protection but that would have breached his
human rights. Prison is a notoriously dangerous place for child killers.

Either way the Prison Service is screwed, either they get sued by
every nonce for human rights violations or they get sued when one
    of them gets hurt.
