Did yet another off-roading day yesterday, with this bunch http://www.huskytrails.co.uk/ . Refreshingly, they're based near Faringdon, Oxon, so there was no need to visit the North. The place is run by a no-nonsense chap with a fleet of Husqvarna TE250s (lovely, lovely bike) and TE450s (heavier, better handling over bumpy stuff, but *insanely* powerful motor) Completely different terrain and trails from previous off-road jaunts I've done, but then they were in the Peak District, so, like *duh*. We did a nice mixture of green lanes, open fields and dirt tracks, round the Berkshire downs. A lot of the trails were not unlike the track at Matchams, but obviously muddier. Nothing too technically challenging, apart from the dreaded ruts, though it got trickier on the grass when it started raining. This meant, of course, that we were riding much faster than on previous trips. I think I saw 70 on the clock at one point going over a grassy field before the fear of a hidden rock or rabbit-hole took over. We covered about 150 miles all told, and this morning my arse and legs are on fire, but all in all, £150 well spent, with all kit, petrol, bikes, lunch and full english breakfast thrown in. Better than sitting at work and dealing with "DNS shit" anyway. Definitely worth a look if you fancy a go at off-roading, and probably a better bet than the Peaks/Lakes/Wales for a first timer.
