Seen the hyosung aquila today, looks nice, but too expensive for us,

so were keeping with looking for a cruise II at the moment,

Anyone on here own or owned one? are they any good, i seem to be expecting
too much it seems, last bike i had was 10 years ago, a KMX 125, was
de-restricted from when i bought it, so i had no idea i shouldent have been
able to do 90mph, and get upto that speed fairly fast,

Seems now that 60mph is good going from a learner legal 125, especialy a 4
    stroke engined one,

I know a cruiser is a totaly different bike to a crosser style, and we would
prolly want a cruiser more than another crosser, more comfier is the main
thing, the KMX's seat was a pain in the arse, litteraly, the aquila's seat
looked and felt like it could be sat in all day long with no problems,

Thing is, coming home i decided to drive the cage at 55mph to see what it
was like, and it seemed i could walk faster, i know on a bike with no
fairing it will seem faster, and i was warned that you don't want to go much
faster on a cruiser bike as the wind is trying to push your feet off the
pegs all the time, any other snippets of info like that.. i've only ever
riden crosser style bikes, oh and a honda C50 once, but i shouldent admit to
    that :D

Are these bikes only for short journeys? i want something mainly to potter
about on back lanes, the main reason for getting one is to tow behind the
motorhome, and use as economical transport when we've traveled 400 miles to
a nice site, not much fun sight seeing in a 7 meter long motorhome.

But occasionaly we'd like to nip down to london on the bike (just so we can
ride through the congestion zones and not pay :), a 120 mile journey
straight down the A1 for us, would this be classed as too much for this kind
    of bike?

There are other cheap chiwanese cruiser bikes out there, about 1500 quid
brand new, so hopefully in our budget second hand,
are there any others worth considering, would a twin cylinder bike be
better? i'm thinking it's sound totaly crap due to having 2 62cc pistons
racing about rather than a single 124cc piston, ok i know not to expect a
harley growl, and more of a seving machine whine, but if the twin cylinder
bikes go better, than i could put up with that.

  2. You're going to have to come to terms with the fact that 125cc bikes,
to comply with the learner regs are slow as ****.

They *must* produce no more than 11KW (14.6 bhp) or they aren't learner
    bikes.

The manufacturers scratched their heads for about 2 seconds and worked
out the ecconomics of building top quality highly stressed high
performance engines and then restricting them and thought bollox to it,
we'll just make 'em slow and feeble to start with.

So that's where we are now. You either pass your test and buy
something bigger and faster, or come terms with doing 60 solo or about
    50 with a pillion.

Trips of 120 miles with a pillion on a 125? Yes it can be done, you
could also push a razor blade with your penis from Lands End to John O
Groats, but whether you'd want to is another matter.

Buy a scooter to put on the back of the caravan and a decent bike for
    other times.

Bugger, does it make any differance that my pillion weighs only 7 stone?
does that get us a few more mph?? :)
i guess the bike htat does 50 mph tops 2 up, will do 30mph at the sight of a
hill? or have they got a bit of grunt to make it up hills in top gear and at
    a respectable speed,
lots of people seem to rekon you just need to drop the rear sprocket from a
    46 tooth to a 41 tooth one, and you'll get 5 to 10 mph more, but i don't buy
that, taller gearing will mean less grunt when you come to the hills, or
maybe you do get to do 60 on the straight, but only 20 on hills?

i'm slowly thinking maybe a baby cruiser is not going to be all it's cracked
up to be, sure they look nice, and are fine for posing, but we would like to
do a bit of distance on one, i had a yamaha DT50 that could do 45 ata push,
but i never went more than 20 miles away on that co's it took so long to get
    anywhere,
maybe a 2 stroke motor would be what i need again, at least they can produce
more power with a few modifcations, my kmx 125 had more than enough for me,
and as i've got older i want to go a bit slower,

maybe i should shove a kmx engine into a hyosung cruiser? or would that
totaly ruin the image.. if it had one to start with? :)

But worrying is what i do best :)

ok then, so i think we're better off going back to a 2 stroke 125 then?? at
least they can usually produce more power when de-restircted,
or are the chiwanese versions the same as the 4 strokers?? made low power to
    start with??

would say a honda rebel be capable of producing more power? or are all 4
stroke 125's low power engines nowadays?
