True, I remember cops in the 1970's to be Arseholes just like now, nothing
    has changed.

Not really Theo, have you ever moved interstate and got a licence in the new
    State?
you will find that the licence branch, will take your old licence from you
and send it back to the originating State for cancellation

  7. They didn't, they handed it back to me.

So now I have Godzone and Mexican licences.

    Presumably only one is official.

Each is "official" unless something.... err... unoficiallates it!!
Many and various things that could be but most of them will be preceded by a
letter so if you ain't been told (and you ain't breaking an obvious) then
    you're totally official.

  9. Ignorance of the law is no excuse
nor is the claim that you haven't received any mail

In fact the argument it was not delivered can be won

but make sure your returns are ALL registered

  11. I have always thought because I was told by a copper, that if you got a
licence in another State, then the original licence was cancelled and sent
    back
    But then again
South Australians are a different lot aren't they?
They are very closely related to Tasmanians
You can tell at any local darnce, were they plarnt their arse and perve on
the lassies while drinking a muddy excuse for an alcoholic brew

  12. A lot better than the average person as they do have to study up on the law
    in order to enforce it.

Are you sure about that or are you just assuming it to be true ?

    JL
(still doesnt fly though - there's no fed law on the subject AFAIK
(other than TPA) so bzzt still wrong ;-P )

That's ridiculous. No one moves from QLD to NSW.

You are muddling licensing laws with Traffic laws.

RTA state if you reside ("make NSW your home") in NSW for longer than
3 months ....where'd you get this 7 day/14 day crap from? Same place
you got the State police deciding what the law is?

Trust me on this....the RTA answer cannot be assumed to be legit.
Counter staff invariably cannot accept/fathom logic or their own cold
hard printed literature (or even current legislation) if their
    computer screen states something else.

I agree, but pouring beer on him would have been a waste of beer
(unless it's QLD beer). However pissing on him would be acceptable
(even though it was beer)..more so that it would be the organic
    equivalent of QLD beer.

A bloke I know lost his NSW license and promptly shipped off
to Seth Effstraiya to get one of their licenses. They issued
SA licence and rego... then a couple of months later the NSW
coppers knocked on the door of his NSW residence...
