Quite. So basically Brits, or their recent offshoots. IMO Americans
are on the whole generally much better behaved than Aussies who are
    again better behaved than Brits.

Still, if you want to see some edifying Brit behaviour saved for
    posterity

  2. The hotel food was by and large very good and varied.
Plus there was a servery for children that was put on because the
complaint was made that there wasn't any real food that the kids could
    eat.

Chips, burgers, pizza and chicken nuggets.

This was expanded in size to accommodate the number of adults who were
    using it.

I'd only been to the north before. Porto de la Cruz 17 years ago
    completely different.
A bit of a 'moonscape' with a few pelagics.
Along the coast of Christianos and Americas that's spot on.
More 'looky, looky' Nigerian street sellers where I was.
Same problem different products for sale.
Does anyone on the group know the rules for taking kids out of school to
    go on holiday?

Hah! Funny man. It's impossible to avoid the toxic little cunts at any
    time these days.

Not all kids are toxic little cunts, just the badly parented ones.

  6. Talking to an Austrian lady there. (And remembering my German is very
rusty) She asked why the children were not at school. If I got it right
    she said in Austria:

Two days away from school and the school make inquiries. If the child is
not sick and a doctors certificate produced the police are informed and
    a visit made.

If the child has been taken out of school for an unofficial holiday the
parents are detained on their return.

First time it is a fine and a caution.

Second time the children are put in care while the parents do 28 days
    inside.

Third time the parents don't get the kids back when they get out.

  8. She did say the Austrians take the education of their children very
    seriously.

While they were talking to each other (in German), the Austrian lady and
her husband, said they though I looked like some one quite famous in
Austria. "Who was that famous Austrian man?" she asked and with out a
pause her husband said "Adolf Hitler?"

    I think he was joking..........

  9. There were some polite well behave kids there.
It was just they were in a small minority.

    Heh.

"The greatest achievement of the Austrian people has been to convince
the whole world that Beethoven was Austrian and Hitler was German".

  11. I dunno, I've seen some Aussies do some pretty cringeing shit at
times. Maybe we have a bigger cringe factor at our own countrymen
because we are afraid we'll get lumped in with them as well?

I've seen pom yobs on news acting like tossers, but have really yet to
encounter that behaviour personally. Maybe the ones that get to
Australia and the South Pacific are better behaved than the ones that
get a cheap Ryanair to Europe (a theory that sorta makes sense I
    guess).

The yanks in the South Pacific can get really obnoxious (I'm not
lumping them all in, but I've seen plenty of the "bad yank" behaviour
at home) maybe the good ones come over here.
59 mins? Umm no thanks, I'll take your word for it :)

    Cheers

  12. What if you want to "home school" your kids? I assume there is a
process you can go through to enable this to happen? I'd be pissed off
if there wasn't. (Not that I would want to home school my kids (well,
more to the point, not that I have or ever want kids) but I think
there should be a right to be able to do it).

I watched it over "lunch". Some lovely renditions of "Ten German
Bombers" and "My Grandad Killed Your Grandad." Makes you proud, it does.

  14. Oh nice . . .

I find it hard to watch more than a few minutes of video at a time I'm
afraid, comes from working for 25+ years in TV and film industry. Call
    it a busman's holiday syndrome.

    Cheers

  15. I've no doubt the bloaters using it were suitably increased in girth
after their holiday. FFS, diabetes is too good for 'em.

What got me was a bloke taking his young son, aged about 10, into
'battle' on his shoulders. Now that's what I call giving your kids an
    education in life.

Fucking scumbags, the lot of them.

    Simon Gates says...
I'm inclined to agree, and I don't think it would have caused an
international incident either. If you break the law abroad expect a
tougher justice system than our own, with no excuses and no exceptions.
If the Germans had made it law that rioting could be punishable with
instant death, then the hooligans would have behaved or fucked off home
after the first round of gunfire.

It pisses me off when Brits abroad complain and whinge about the
punishments they get for crimes. We expect visitors to this country to
behave and abide by our laws, so why shouldn't we when we go abroad,
excluding motoring offences in France of course.

sometimes I'm sorely tempted) but cba to type it in. JFGI.

I liked the "All I want to do is punch someone in the face" said in the
tone of "...is that too much to ask?"
