    On Tue, 20 Sep 2005 19:49:03 +0100,
I think I'll get the ER-5 into a more 'safe' working order for the
winter before I splash out on something pretty. Living on the coast
that bike is going to get the brunt of the wind from the sea, salt
air, grit, ice & snow and I'm planning on using it throughout the
winter until the snow/ice dissappears. I'd much rather throw my
already-crashed bike down the road in winter than something a bit
    nicer.

Taking this option will also mean I can pay off a few bills and have a
few test rides before I make my mind up on a new vehicle. I should
also have a 1 year NCB for the bike by the beginning of March.

Oh, it's so nice to be able to plan ahead!

I don't suppose it is a common route anyway, regardless of area.

  3. In uk.rec.motorcycles, BGN amazed us all with this pearl of wisdom:
Why not keep the ER-5 for winter only or as a hack? Oh, and the salt
stays on the road long after the snow has gone!

    1) Take bike out.
    2) Return home
    3) Hose bike off liberally with cold water. Spray *everywhere*, but try not
to hose directly into wheel bearings etc.
    4) Repeat. Lots.

Alternatively, get thee hence to you motorcycle dealers and obtain a bottle
of the magical Scottoiler FS365 spray. Hose bike off, leave to dry,
liberally spray all over anything metallic. Repeat regularly.

I don't know if this is unique to Bristol, but apparently in an effort to
get the grit/salt to stay on the road longer, they actually mix molasses in
with the stuff. So, sticky and corrosive. Brilliant.

Excellent, I had my fingers crossed.
You've learnt how to ride not pass a test?
They've ruled out the young onset one then? That's good.
Could I have a fish cake and a can of ginger beer instead? No salt and
    vinegar ta.
    Oh all right then.
    Indeed.

They just said that their tests didn't give any fuel to either belief.
Some more tugging and pulling and talking may follow. The neurologist
seemed quite upbeat, but aren't they all? I'm not going to worry
about it until someone tells me I've got something to worry about.

My Bupa consultant and the neurologist are going to play with each
    other.
I'll keep them in a bag until BoSM.
Which training and/or test to take next!?

    Cool, congrats.

My brother passed his full test last Thursday, also with 4 faults.
And is now the proud owner of Mike Buckley's old Bandit and going on
tonight's short ride to Bassetts Pole has the makings of a fairly tidy
    rider.

Thank you so much, speaking with yourself and the likes of Pip & Co at
    the weekend was really helpful.
I swore I'd never take the 'A' test when I did the 'A2' in March as I
hate practical tests so much. Then for some reason I booked it.. and
    passed of all things.

I am going to keep myself away from all Suzuki dealerships until
they've stopped all of this £1 deposit MADNESS for their HP deals. :)

nice one.. I remember when I passed mine; had a permanent smile on my
face for the next day. Even now I am known to spontaneously burst out
laughing at cagers sitting in traffic jams

It'll have to wait for the BOSM, I'm not posting it!
