I suppose it had to happen eventually ...

  1. I feel much the same way about fork oil. At least it's not corrosive to
    paint.

Apparently ( my word of the day), I need to clean the surface to be
stuck with "rubbing alcohol" - Robert Dyas don't stock it - anyone any
idea where, or is it an Ebay frenzy once more?

If the 'surface to be stuck' is metal, use cellulose thinners,
available from Halfords & probably any motor factor. White spirit
    would do the job too.

Painted plastic - the chrome "accents" attach by double sided tape.

I've just noticed I've been sent a driving lamp kit for an airbag
    model. Bother.

any alcohol will do - meths, ethanol or isopropanol. All are sold as
    "rubbing alcohol" according to wikipedia.

  9. Low grade surgical spirit, or even IPA will do.
If it's to make sure the surface is grease-free, just use meths.

Or just use a citrus-based degreaser. Works just as quickly and well,
much more pleasant on hands and nose, and greener too, if you're
    bothered by such things.

Just use a bit of soapy water then. It's not like whatever it is will
    be covered in chain lube.
I hate it when that happens.

For drinking or for cleaning surfaces?

If the latter, then I'll bow to your superior knowledge on this one.

Both. Higher ABV for Marstons would make it a better cleaner.

The bottled version is one of my favourite ales to drink at home.

Greene King IPA is weak, insipid stuff.

    Of course!
Ah, yes, I believe I've tried it on occasion. In fact, I need to get
some ales on the way home tonight so if Tesco has it...
True, but that makes it dead handy for all-day drinking sessions at
    Twickenham.
