I think I'm fated to fail with electrical stuff.

Now the colder weather is here I thought I'd buy a pair of Gerbing
heated gloves. I soon realised they weren't working as advertised
being lukewarm at best on a mild day, then they became intermittent
cutting in and out during my commute.

I went back to the shop where I bought them and thinking the fault
ought to be either the cable that feeds up through the jacket or the
cable attachment to the battery because both gloves were affected I got
a replacement for the jacket feed because it was didn't need any
disassembly. I checked it at the shop and the gloves were heating up so
off I went. On the way home they stopped working again and now don't
    work at all.

I called in at Maplins and bought a cheap multimeter to test the gloves
and cabling. Got it home unpacked it and found it was DOA. So I took
the multimeter back and got a replacement when I got that home I found
that although it switched on, segments of the LCD wouldn't come on
unless I pressed on the screen. Anyway I tested the lead from the
battery, which showed 12V on the connector the Gloves both tested at
about 11 Ohms each which would seem about right, I didn't test the
continuity of jacket connector but I guess that's must be the problem
although I find it surprising to get two defective connectors. Or is
    there some other explanation.

Anyway I took the multimeter back and got a refund. Now back to the
shop for a another replacement cable.

If it's not working then take them back again, although it's hard to
imagine how something so simple can fail to work, I bought two of
those maplin meters some time ago, BOGOF - I wander if the one I have
not removed from it's packet actually works from your experience!
