I was wrong about Racetecs

That's 'cos I've just got back. I've used 3 tanks of fuel[1], got the
tyres lovely and hot and tried. And tried. And tried.

Nope. Bar a few flies, the kneesliders are virgin as the day I bought
    them.

I tried everything you said an then tried what I did before but
exaggerated it and then tried what you said and exaggerated that.

    Nilch, nada, no sprapo.

Oh well, had a jolly whizzy time but just no scrishhh...

[1] It doesn't do much to a tankful when it doesn't drop below 120mph!

Oh well - I guess what works for me doesn't work for you. Really you'd need
to have someone following you to see where you were going wrong - video
cameras and instructors on track days are your friend.

Least you had fun though :)

Well today, I leant it further than I did yesterday and it was way cool.
It just seems to lean forever. Anyway, I think I've got the hang of the
leaning into the bend thing because I don't seem to have a problem doing
it when I'm sitting on the bike properly and as well as feeling I'm
doing it, it seems to pull the bike round the corners better as if I'mm
attached to a piece of string and some kid is whirring it round his head
    :)
Right, I'll get the CBR out then, I certainly won't worry about dropping
    that.

    <Tempts fate>

I don't think there's anything left on it that'll break

Conversely, when having problems on a new bike I try sticking my knee
out and forwards as this seems to bring it down to the road.

I agree it's whatever works for that person. It's all about that
mental barrier, and once you do it you wonder why you couldn't before.

Best of luck WC, and just remember that if you still can't I'll do you
swopsies on my sliders. Who'll know?!

(I've not really tried properly yet)

It's not that hard, as it happens. Comparing against last year on the
daytona, sulby and the gooseneck were just as easy. Windy wasn't
doable reliably, and neither was the creg (although the road repair
wouldn't settle in my mind as being safe). I didn't even attempt
    bradden this year.

The out and forwards is something else to try... The mental barrier is
    the biggest.
    Heh, every **** in here.

Not a bad idea though, cheaper than buying a belt sander to rub them
down, plus yours will have proper road rash ;-)

Heh. I've got a set that are absolutely trashed - almost
worn through the plastic in places - that I'm tempted to
put onto ebay just to see if they'll sell.

On the subject of KD, a lot of what Adrian was writing
makes sense when backed up with pictures. You need
to get your whole body off the bike, not just your arse.

Imagine a line through your arse, back (spine) and head.
That line needs to stay parallel to the bike as you move
off the bike. If your head is still over the bars/tank as
you shift, then you're not doing it right, imo.

    A bit like this:

    or like this... ;-)

FWIW try shifting back in the seat. You appear to be sat right up
against the tank in that shot. I always shuffle my arse back in the
seat once I start to get a bit more of a shift on which feels a lot
    more natural, for me anyway.

The lean you've got there is sufficient for knee down. Prolly not the
fastest route around the corner as you'd be hanging off a far bit more
than required, but position is your only problem and not that you're
only 2deg off vertical like some people who try.

I saw a bloke in Cromer complaining about the handling of his Gixer 750
K2 the other day. When he'd gone I noticed the 2 inch wide chicken
strips on his rear tyre. Made me wonder if the handling problem was due
to that or due to him being useless.

I am aware of this, my girlfriend's Bandit 650 rear tyre has a 1/4 inch
chicken strip yet she regularly scrapes the pegs away.
He was, believe me. His wife's 9R had even bigger chicken strips, but
she's a burd so easily forgiven for riding like one.

Or you can take the fat bastards approach and just lean it till it scrapes
   )

Apart from you cunts she's the only person I see, and I don't like using
her name on here. Shall I take the Auvache view on naming her?

You could refer to her by her posting name - that's how everybody else
    is known.

The converse might therefore also be argued. I managed to totally
eliminate the rear chicken strips at Cadwell on Friday. The front still
has about 10mm of unblemished rubber. Fast moi ? More a case of using
the power available when moderately well cranked over (just can't
hang-off and prefer to emulate SMBH on the TT Ducati - in my dreams)
after several laps on a hottish day.

Or you could borrow a nice, sorted RC45 and then... Oh... Hold on...
RC45? That reminds me of something.... Now what was it again.....

Neither. I'm just loathe to refer to her as anything but "my
girlfriend" mainly because she is a lurker and very occasional poster.
What else could I call her?
