Eh? it bored me almost to an early grave. What a load of tripe and not once
did they stop uttering platitudes about the NHS and the economy and talk
about anything interesting. No wonder so many people don't want to vote for
    any of the three.

Indeed. You can only imagine the conversations that went on after that...

Great to know. Which volcano erupted that time?

The figure I quoted wasn't plucked out of my arse, it was taken from the
ticketing web site and was the lowest fare available for that train.

Not very useful if you need to be in Manchester for a debate that
    evening.

In the context of a specific journey on a specific day, to be in a
specific place at a specific time, booked at the last minute for a
specific reason, at a known price, not one thing you've added has been
useful or relevant. Quite an achievement, even for you.

This would be the boy that was "randomly selected" to ask a question
from the audience in the "debate", and at the Beyenpee edition of
    Question Time?

Like I'd claim the jewishest boy in London as my own!

  12. To ruthlessly drag this back on topic, I was expecting a glorious sunset
today - buggerall different from normal.

Glorious sunset was indeed forecast here. I was distracted by a
celebratory beer, the RD having now passed 9 MOTs since rebuild without
    a fail.

Just the CB to go, which might be a bit trickier.

Planes/choppers still flying today from Tollerton, but not the usual
    Friday frequency.

  14. Reminds me of the story of a couple being amorous in his car in
the middle of nowhere, when plod knocked on the window to ask what was
going on. He was all contrite but she went apeshit, effing and blinding
at the cops until one of them said, "I'm sorry sir, I'm afraid I'll have to
ask you to come down the station." "Why, I've done nothing wrong?" "Sir,
I have to charge you with having an offensive person on your weapon..."

  15. So I was in the Fatherland most of this week (actually, no different
from any other really). Had planned to fly back on Thursday pm.

Travel agent didn't phone me, online check in failed from my phone in
the cab on the way to the office on Thursday AM so I checked the news.
Couldn't get through to the travel office and was busy so forgot about
it for the morning... come midday and the Eurostar was full until
Saturday morning. Come late afternoon and it was full until Sunday
mid-day. Thought I was spending the weekend as well as the week in
    Dusseldorf.

Fortunately found out someone I knew was hiring a car so bummed a lift.

Still Dusseldorf to Paddington door-to-door in about 7 hours. Not so
    bad.

Which, to bring it on topic, means I get to pick up my new[1] bike
    tomorrow.

    [1] To me. 2008 XT660R
    Excellent.

Particles from the "volcano" that "erupted" sending huge amounts of
apparently completely invisible "ash" into the sky and allowed the new
world order to pretty much squash cross-border personal mobility.

What next, eh? What next from our reptilian masters?

  18. The dust is like free pepper. Come to think of it, there was a coating
of dust on the vehicles on Thursday morning, which I didn't think much
of, assuming it was simply wind-blown dust from the fields. The penny
didn't drop until later. I noticed it immediately, because I'd given the
vehicles a proper wash on the Wednesday and was a bit pissed off at my
    once-yearly cleaning being for nothing.

Had a great one here, although nothing to do with volcanoes. We were
sat drinking beers outside the yucatan as the sun went down at the end
of the valley. Not partcularly spectacular per se, but after a great
day of skiing really nice spring snow it just put a cap on it all.

  20. Nothing much again, tonight. Hohumm... Ireland's got hardly any dust out
to the West. Mind you, there was an absolutely spectacular sunset a
couple of months ago and I just wonder if that was due to the same
    source.
